Has anyone tried these with the ZMF Universe Perforated Lambskin pads? Am thinking of purchasing a pair.

I haven't tried those, but keep pad diameter in mind. I found the Eikon pads (4.3") I had laying around to be too large for the Verum, so I went and got a set of Ori pads (4.1") that fit perfectly. I went to the Ori lambskin for pure comfort improvement over the stock pads (I have dumbo ears that didn't care for the round stock pads).

While I'm not very good at describing what I hear, I thought the deeper/more angled Ori pads improved the soundstage of the verum while keeping the FR relatively unchanged from the stock lambskin. I do have a set of V1 perforated pads, but haven't listened to them yet... the description given of a "brighter V1" hasn't really motivated me to give them a try...

I should edit my post on the Asgard 3 thread to include the Verum. Will do so this weekend sometime when I explore the combo more.

Brief impressions is that the combo will suit those who like a richer timbre. Combines the Verum's old-school planar timbre and the Asgard's tonal richness. Transients have a slight rounded edge and good control of decay (neither Verum nor Asgard is renowned for speed/slam, but neither is bad in these regards). Resolve is very good; not quite TOTL, but of course it's not going to be (and has enough details to be very enjoyable and entertaining).

In short, a polite, gentle, rich-timbred listen.

These look interesting. Can anyone comment on how they compare to HE500 in terms of sound and comfort? The FR's of the two looks very similar at first glance, do they have a subjectively similar tonality?

If everything will be according to plan, from the middle of february that redesign will be available from the website.

Also want to show you new side knobs. Previous were made of titanium and now I make them from thin steel with plastic inside. It's as durable as previous one but -5 grams each. 10 grams benefit seems to be insignificant, but you know 10 grams here, 10 grams there... And you'll finally receive much better user expereince because of weight reduction.

    So here're new knobs:

    What's inside? :D

Inside is a pet plastic insert with steel nut inside. Robust, lightweight and hope good looking.

I prefer the new grill. Is it possible to have the top headband part in Silver instead of gold?

Nope. It is brass. Don't want to use aluminium in pivot system.

Aluminium would get "eaten" really quickly with all those sudden, subtle movements @Jerry, even more with the thinness it gotta have to remain light and non-bulky. At least i think that's the reason.

I am mostly curious about that new headstrap, maybe it's just the pic but i don't see that much padding.

@Walderstorn - head strap has zero padding and it's more comfortable with new steel frame. If you install it on old headband - it'll be a bad idea.
Here is how Verum 1 mk2 looks like assembled:

Just assembled first finished mk2 unit. From today all ordered units will be mk2. After making good photos with my camera instead of smartphone I'll make an update on my website.

@Garuspik the mk.2 looks fantastic! great job. Now I'm seriously considering picking one up.

Maybe I misread it but I think I read somewhere (either here or HF thread) that the newer batches have the connectors changed from 2.5mm to 3.5mm. Is this true?

Dude this looks perfect. You truly have nailed the design.
And thank you so much for changing 2.5mm to 3.5mm connector, please use 3.5mm connecters with the Verum 2 as well.
    Good job @Garuspik Good Job!

I'm actually preparing an LCD2C vs Verum One vs HE-500 shootout review. The theme of the review is going to be that LCD2C is a bit too dark and HE-500 is a bit too bright and Verum One is in the goldilocks zone. That isn't to say the others aren't more preferable in some cases, but at least in terms of tonality and FR that is how they are relative to each other.

Comfort is a toss up between HE-500 and Verum one. Both are on the heavier side and both rely on a thick padded headband to distribute the weight. The new mk2 version that was recently posted might change that (I can only speak of v1). Both headphones benefit from a pad change (for both sound and comfort).

Sound-wise I think Verum is just better balanced. Look at Oratory1990's GRAS raw measurements:

I don't personally love the Harman bass boost, so I don't mind that it doesn't rise up in mid-bass, I prefer the more traditional planar linear response up through 1kHz. The low treble is a little uneven, not terrible at all, but I think a pad swap helps a bit there. So that's why I consider it to be pretty much in the middle between LCD2C's dark tilt (e.g. non-existent upper mids) and HE-500's really forward upper mids/low treble. I think HE-500 feels a little more lean, has a little more air, and a little more edge in its transient attack compared to Verum, but that's also why HE-500 can be considered a bit etched, aggressive, and fatiguing. I personally like HE-500 a lot, but Verum One is a better all rounder and has a more full and robust sound. I think Verum's timbre is also more natural compared to HE-500. As of now I plan on keeping both headphones and selling LCD2C. I might sell one of HE-500 or Verum One eventually, but which one would be based more on the rest of my collection.

So like all things in this hobby I think it comes down to preference. If you love everything about HE-500's sound, but just want "the same but better", then Verum One isn't it. You are better off going HE-6(se). However, if you want a great all rounder with very few sins of commission, Verum is excellent at its price. It basically does everything really well across the board. There's a reason it won a golden schlong award this year.
