Could be little bit sensitive right now. I do think the USA should be given a little bit more credit in that fun tidbit that you posted.

Warning: I've had little sleep and certain no sleep for any extended period of time. I'm more likely to just go off of people here than to someone at work who had not adequately prepared despite my many reminders, but now needs me to go beyond my call and duty to get something done for them. Yes, I'm knee deep in this shit trying to actually solve things.

STFU if you are pontificating poser. (not directed toward you @robot zombie)

If that's what you want to take out of my post that's your choice, but it's not what I said. Not everything is Trump's fault, but he did not do a good job so far, and the way he downplayed this at the beginning is shameful and dangerous. It took him 2 weeks to take it seriously and I'm being nice saying he/his administration is taking it seriously now, but compared to 2 weeks ago there's definite progress.

@elmoe: I'm no lover of Trump, but just STFU. Please, just STFU. As I said, the dude tweets too much and ends up undermining himself. I'm trying to fix things and the last thing on my mind is Trump. Trump, CDC, federal agencies, do not exist in my mind. We can do a historical analysis in hindsight. Maybe Netflix will do nice show on this.

Well, tomorrow is a new day and also a work day. If like last week, things will continue to evolve. Work toward survival for you and yours. Clean and load your defense weapons. Shopping is now an adventure. Put on gloves before leaving the house and enjoy the price of gasoline.
If you have become unemployed, please file your claim for unemployment benefits tomorrow. If you have not done so, check your food stock. You may need three weeks of food .(correct me if I am wrong.) Don't worry too much about hand sanitizer. Good old soap and water works just fine.
Any of you friends that have something positive to add to this or correct me, please chime in.

Stop being a dumbass. Many businesses, companies, and EU countries, played it the same way two weeks ago. When it comes to EU, UK, and USA, no one has done a good job. Anyone can be a superhero with the power of hindsight.

One thing I try to keep in mind when looking for blame is that this is a pretty unprecedented situation. Better calls could've been made by pretty much everyone at one point or another. Nobody in the world was planning for this and honestly I think it's kind of unrealistic to expect anyone to get on top of the full reality in a remotely ideal way. Our societies fundamentally aren't built for this. It wasn't a part of our world. Now it's real and not surprisingly nobody knew what to do when. Does that excuse every bad choice made? Hell no. The consequences are real. People with no say are affected drastically by every single misstep.

They say hindsight is 20/20. The time to look back and learn what all was done wrong is after everything has settled. As of now, how things will wind up is still unclear. I can understand looking at things that are obvious now (and probably should've been before) and kinda thinking that somebody really fucked up. There will need to be accountability and corrections for those things.

We can say "shoulda done this" and "shouldn't have done that" all day long but it doesn't change what we're dealing with. By the time it is a pandemic, the point of no return has long since been crossed and all anybody can do is try to minimize. I still think that the focus for now has to be on actually getting ahead of this and trying to refine how it's handled day by day. The best you can do today... just do that. For me it's not about what was done wrong, but what can be done better.

I blame Macron (using same logic as blaming Trump):

His willingness to diaper-dance to Xi should have yielded France better data to implement a Europe wide lockdown a month ago so that stupid Americans who insisted on continuing with their planned European vacations wouldn't be bringing back the virus. Given that the virus hit France earlier than USA. Macron should have shut down restaurants March 1 instead of the 15th. Yes, Macron sat on this for two weeks!

Merkel is obviously incompetent as well. Germany's 297 cases / 1M population is only second to Italy (and Switzerland too, but let's not count them) in the EU. They can talk about all their testing, but obviously they are not doing things right. They should have locked down two-weeks earlier. Germany is doing awesome things now, but they were really behind the curve two weeks ago. Not only that, they should have shot the teens in Bavaria who were flaunting these restrictions, to serve as an example to others.

Oh, and let me add all the Democrats running NY too, which account for the vast majority of new (and total) USA cases in the past few days. New York is a huge state with its own resources and some duplicative functions as the Feds. De Blasio and Cuomo should have been on top of this and shut things down across the state two weeks ago. It's not like they would take any Trump administration advice anyway, so the sole responsibility lies with them.

Yup, let me point fingers. Plenty of blame and easy too.

And kudos to the sciency big data (including your own personal data) people in the SF Bay Area, the easily freaked out vain people of SoCal, and of course to Gavin Newsome, who took Spock's adage "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of few or the one" to heart.

A member of an exclusive club argues with it's owner, and asks him to be respectful using the F word. He gets kicked out of the club. Not that i have a problem with that, as it seems obvious to me. Rando question: is this analogy adequate to describe the SBAF culture applied to this situation?

With no other options available, finger pointing is always a popular choice.

Went on amazon earlier, to order some spray disinfectant for the block elevator's buttons.

Notice up top about prioritising important shipments and that some goods may be temporarily unavailable as a result. Wondering if that's global?

@JellyRhino welcome to SBAF, it's a special place

All cool too if you feel it's okay to jeer the cat folks every once in awhile for letting wild animals defecate indoors in a sandbox in the closet. Doggo peeps are welcome here, too.

@purr1n appreciate your keeping SBAF running during this crisis seems like IRL you are working 18+ hours a day. It is sobering to think that before this crisis is over we may well lose a few Friends ... not pleasant to contemplate.

Beijing at least freaked the hell out eventually even after going full dysfunctional Kafkesque bureaucracy for a few weeks. Imperial China had worse fuckups. The Opium Wars, building a modern navy in the 19th century while broke, letting the French blow up that Navy because the officials and emperor didn’t give the orders sail away or attack, letting the self-proclaimed Chinese younger brother of Jesus kill at least 10 million people in the Taiping Rebellion, killing Nurhachi’s dad and granddad, letting the Manchu through the Wall, Cixi, Cixi appointing a toddler emperor twice in a row and killing the adult imprisoned Emperor to appoint another toddler, and raiding Mongol tribesmen capturing the Emperor with an infinitely smaller force:

Tehran.... oh god. God will not save you from the pestilence. You get rewarded in the next world for your piety, not this one.
