    The new firmware does not clip, as shown in the APx555 report on the site with 0dB input.

    I think it was an impedance mismatch with my amp and IEM. Everything sounds great on my other headphones. The issue was definitely NOT the Modi MB.

    My Modi Multibit has developed a kind of ringing distortion in the left channel. Anyone else had this happen. Will it need to go back for repair/replacement?

    Tried rebooting? This was a common, intermittent problem from way back - turning it off then on again will cure it, then a few months later it'll do it again; repeat...

    I've been using a Modi multibit with the updated firmware that I bought used for week now and I'm still impressed with it. I also own a Modi 3 that I bought from Schiit. I could tell the difference between the two the second I heard the multibit. Much more three dimensional soundstage, bass is deeper but detailed, not boomy. Vocals are fantastic. Absolutely love the Modi multibit!

    I'm having a weird issue. My set up is iMac>Eitr>Modi Multibit. I'm getting a brief audio drop out every 30 seconds or so. It happens regardless of what the audio source on the iMac is but it's not repeated through different audio outputs connected to the iMac. If I re-boot the computer it fixes it but it keeps coming back.

    Does this sound like a DAC issue? Anyone experienced this? Thoughts on a fix?

    Have you tried removing the eitr from the chain to rule it out? Is the audio streamed or locally stored?

    Hmmm ... this probably won't help, but I have the same chain and had a few similar issues.

    One turned out to be the USB jack into the eitr: it had a little play in it and if I was typing or otherwise bumping the desk or PC the sound would drop out. I fixed it by rubberbanding the plug into the jack (but I paid $1000 for the rubber band so now it sounds WAY better :))

    The other one was this weird tinny sound that would come out of only the left channel - drove me batty and still pops up every 3 months or so, but I figured out I have to shut down both the eitr and Modi Multibit, then turn on the Modi Multibit first, wait 30 seconds, then turn on the eitr. Firxes it every time. (if I don't follow that order, it usually doesn't work and because i like to fight the man my first attempt always breaks the rules and always fails.)

    I hope any of that helps, but it probably doesn't

    I've been thinking about getting one of these little bastards to complete my setup with the massdrop X koss electrostatic dudes. I miss the tone of the Gungnir MB from years back and I want some of that sweet multibit.

    I just got one back in. Definitely a downgrade from my Gungnir MB A1, but pleasantly not as obvious as the Modi 3. Good tone, good layering. Bass and detail definitely a step back, but not as soft as Modi 3. Glad to have it back and pretty sure I can sell the Gungnir with minimal regrets.

    So it's definitely the Modi Multibit, checked it without the eitr.
    It will still be under waranty so I can get it replaced.

    What does it say that rebooting the computer fixes it rather than rebooting the Modi Multibit? Is it possible it's a software glitch?

    Assuming that when you removed the Eitr from the chain, you connected the Modi Multibit to the computer using the same USB cable? Have you tried another cable?
    That's a well-known Modi Multibit 'feature', evidently designed to make us reboot it every now and again :rolleyes:

    assuming that you connected Modi through SPDIF and now through USB, and you need to reboot Mac to fix the issue, I'd say it points at your Mac USB as culprit. You need to check it with another USB source.

    I have a similar issue and I identified the Eitr as the guilty machine. Not every 30 second though, but:

    - almost each time someone switch the lights on/off in the house;
    - almost each time I touch the saga+ volume pot;
    - almost each time I plug something to the wall (like recharging the smartphone);

    If someone knows any trick to get it working fine I would be more than happy, as the overall sound improved with eitr+Modi Multibit.

    Got this exact same weird issue on the left channel a week ago... was driving me crazy! after isolating every single component It went out it was the Modi Multibit. Shut down/ reboot solved it for me.

    So I have now established that when this issue presents, if I switch the mac to it's internal sound, the problem goes away. But I've also established that when I plug my phone into the Modi Multibit it also works fine. I'm also getting the same issue with the built-in MB DAC in the Jot

    So does that mean it's an issue with the mac drivers for the Modi Multibit?

    Update on this. It's not the Modi Multibit. The same problem is occuring with the built in MB DAC in my Jot.
    It's also not the USB cable.

    Would this mean it's a driver issue? Or just a mac USB issue? How would I go about trouble-shooting from here? It's driving me crazy :-(

    I found this article where the OP actually made a few YT videos of his audio "glitching" - is this what you're experiencing?

    Article: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8486567

    YouTube vid #1:

    YouTube vid #2:

    YouTube vid #3:

    One person in the thread said that resetting his NVRAM and SMC fixed the problem (with the help of the Genius Bar). In the third YT video, the OP said that the latest Mac (OS?) update fixed it for him, but that would mean a possible O/S issue.

    Not sure if it's related, but I hope you find your solution. I find that if a problem follows the user to different hardware, it's not a hardware issue. The least common denominator here would be the iMac/Mac OSX.

    No, I'm not getting any strange sounds, just just a half second audio drop every 30 seconds or so.

    Just to experiment, try setting it to 24/48*? I think the default in macOS is 24/192** when you first plug in. Also you'll get the burrito-filter activated, 24/192 bypasses that on the ModiMB.

    *I set mine to that just in general, if using that dreaded usb. Remember, does not apply re: bitperfect, audnirvana, other, those use hog mode / native music bitrates.
    **could be wrong on that... easy to check tho
