Just like Gore did for (going from memory) 5 weeks? I think it's the opposite - you want both parties pushing hard to flush out any irregularities and keep the "system" as honest as possible. The system is a hybrid half government/half volunteer system, each locality/state with its own laws, peculiarities and traditions. As such it does not take a genius to figure out the many ways it can be manipulated. Trump and the GOP will not be singing kumbaya with Biden anytime soon nor should they.

Nah, with a 50/50 split and current climate both parties have little to gain and much to lose. The normative give and take is for now only a kumbaya dream.

Yeah. Except Gore was not President.

EDIT: The Federal gov does not have full control. There is good amount of power in the States. And that is good. Unlike Gore though, Trump is not a office-less politician. He is the President. He is not supposed to be the bitch that calls into question the electoral system. He is supposed to have sufficient power to f'ing fix it.

Does not matter, as the presidency (or for that matter "the Senate"/legislative branch) has almost no control/influence over the conduct of local elections. Indeed, the Constitution is designed to prevent just such a scenario. Only the Judicial branch has any say, and only if it reaches them - which it probably will just like it did for Bush vs. Gore

Well, it may be my ignorance. I was thinking a sitting President could send the Feds and get real if there was proof of wrong doing. Specially if it's his election that is at stake.

Not that I am aware of either. Perhaps congress at some point has passed one or more laws around "election integrity" or something, where the President through the Justice Dept. could initiate an investigation - which itself would eventually be decided in the Federal courts (1-5 years later)?

I know people like to think that the presidency has this kind of monarchial power - where he can just initiate a police state like action on his own - but it's just the opposite. The Presidency is the most limited and gimped branch of government, and besides being commander of the military (which is very limited itself internally) he's just a glorified administrator, doing what congress tells him to do...

That was a difference of 530+ votes. Extremely razor thin margins and Bush won after the Supreme court said enough. That was also one state.

Trump has in all rights to ask for a recount. You'll find that it won't change much in margins were Biden won by thousands in contested states. In many of the states he filed lawsuits for voting irregularities, the judges threw it out because there was no evidence. Again, the same system that put him in office in 2016 is the same system that put Biden in office in 2020.

To some extent. I think we have a wonderful system going for us. But while the Emperor Dump does not have the privileges of God Putin, I don't think he is powerless at all. The man did a lot. Nobody would oppose electoral integrity initiative. It just didn't happen AFAIK.

Trump wants desperately to get these cases in front of SCOTUS so he can call in the “favours” he did for Kavanaugh, ACB and Gorsuch. Do you not think this scenario was in his mind when he put the rush on for ACB’s nomination (not saying it was the sole reason, but I guarantee he calculated this).

Not unlike the mob bosses of old who paid off and did favours for judges to gain their favour when their cases went before the courts, I think he feels they will support his arguments. I just hope that these people have some level of real integrity and/or at least realize that undoing any significant level of legitimate voting, even on some f’d up technicality, would create a monumental crisis.

Ah, so now that we are talking multiple states and thousands of votes, what are you willing to give Trump? 10 weeks? 15? ;)

I agree, but I still want the system doing what the system does. It's an adversarial system, not a scientific, nor a "mobster" one, nor a kumbaya one. Trump/GOP can and will, just as Gore/Dem's did, exhaust all legal avenues in an attempt to flush out irregularities and win.

I might if you mean some federal effort, particularly if it was a partly line effort (either party dominating the legislation over the other). All else being equal, I prefer decentralized systems.

Trump played a bad game. The few percentage points could have easily been overcome had he done one of the following:
    1. Played a good first debate instead of trying to trip Biden up which backfired.
    2. Repudiated hate and racism, instead of "stand down stand by" bullshit, from a "gimme" debate question of all things. For every 2 militia guys he got to go to the polls, he flipped the minds of 11 suburban housewives who were on the fence to Biden.
    3. Not had Rose Garden ceremony without masks and gotten COVID. This would have allowed him an extra in-person debate to undo what he did in the first rebate. A decent second debate combined with his decent last debate would have pushed him over for the win.
Trump had this in the can, all he had to do was not blow it. In that respect, all prior x10 loser Biden had to do was keep his mouth shut and stop himself from saying retarded shit like "poor kids can be just as smart as white kids". Biden was miraculously able to stop himself from being retarded. Trump wasn't.

This is why I love modern times. If you are searching long enough you will find information which corroborates what you think/believe (your prejudices, too).
I do not find the arguments made on the linked website very convincing, simply because they claim certain things without explaining why their claims should be true.
Given the fact that they are hosted in Bulgaria of all places you may, depending on which side you lean to, say this is proof that there was fraud during the election or you may say this is proof that Putin has Trump’s balls in his drawer. Isn’t that beautiful? Both sides can feel vindicated.

That I would not doubt for a second. As someone commented Toronto newspaper: my great uncle never voted Democrats until he died.

I've heard that plenty of times before, and at the core, I'm way more Republican than Democrat. But when electoral crap happens, it always favors Democrats?

Every two years I am so proud of Federalism in the US. Imagining the Federal Level gets too involve in state-level elections like what Lindsey is purposing McConnell to get into next year.

Also I'll never get over the funny fact that both Sen Loeffler and Sen Perdue from GA want their state's GOP Secretary of State to resign due to his "poor" handling of the GA voting process. Of course he stated nope. The two Senators are pissed that they are going into runoffs in two months (which I expect both of them to overcome).

Four years ago the Dems were pissed on the EC in general, including getting rid of it. Now they aren't bitching about it ATM since "their guy" won. GOP love the EC system when it benefits them, but bitch about it when the results don't go in their way. Even if Trump wins some minor victories in the courts, I'm not even lose to being convinced that he will win some major victories. I know the US Supreme Court don't really wanna deal with this crap when they have better things to do ATM.

Also, I'm kind of sad for my dad. Four years ago he made a big talk to me saying that the EC is the most important thing and we must respect the results of an election, regardless who is president or not. I talked to him on Friday and now he is not going to accept Biden as president and believes Trump is the real winner of the election. My dad is also happy that Trump might get a platform like his own news channel or work with OAN or Newsmax. After talking to my dad, I started to laugh so f'ing hard. Did my dad became a 2016 Democrat when they call Trump "Not my President?"

Colorado joined 15 other states in throwing their EC votes behind the national popular vote winner. What's interesting to me is how doing this dis-empowers local politics/voting patterns at least when it comes to the presidential vote. Those states who keep a winner of our state takes all system (or even a split system such as Neb and Maine) will have more sway and get more attention from campaigns...

f**k the National Vote Compact. Let CA and CO suffer when a GOP candidate wins the popular vote. Then they will never learn their ways.

So sending Alabama and Missouri to the trash compactor cause they didn't outvote CA/CO makes sense, too, right? NO FED FUNDING TO POOR PEOPLE STATES UNTIL YOU VOTE RIGHT doesn't sound quite right.

It does make sense, AL/MO are completely different states than CA/CO.

So how do you intend to make CA/CO suffer for voting for your least favorite politicians, while being a resident of FL? Federalism works in interesting ways, right?

Because those states decide where they want their EC votes go to their prefer candidate????? Each state have their different cultures/values, and they should decide where they want their EC votes to go to. CO/CA are dumb for attempting to do that Popular Vote Compact, if they overwhelming vote D but the R candidate wins the Popular Vote, then they fucked themselves over.

I don't want the major cities decide who wins the Executive Branch.
