You all are generally into fine things in addition to audio and also good at finding stuff online. I thought it would be cool to have a thread with interesting/useful/delicious gift ideas available online.

really good chocolate for example. Or tech stuff. Whatever.

Voges or Chuao for chocolate (unless you like it pure). Lots of fun combinations. I really like the potato chip one from Chuao. Can get fun multipacks which are great as gifts.

    hello,
for all the garlic lovers on your list (and if you aren't one, you are dead to me):
    https://garlicgourmay.com
the lemon/dill picked cloves are yummy! add to a green salad and swoon.
the garlic stuffed olives are excellent in a glass of gin and ice. (or, i suppose, in a Martini if you want to make the extra effort.)
this is a small, family shop who mainly sold their products at the various community fairs we have here in Washington. with those shut, they need some love... and orders!
    cheers!

I got sick of my Fitbit's short battery life and poor GPS accuracy on long bike rides this summer, but liked the daily stats - sleep tracking/heart rate/calories/steps. So instead of a bike computer, my running obsessed friend suggested a Coros Pace 2.

Their website is horrible but here: https://www.coros.com/pace2.php

It's $200 and has performed great in every category I care about. The daily stats are all there, the GPS is accurate, battery efficient, and reconnects quickly after going through a tunnel(Fitbit would never reconnect without stopping the activity and starting a new one, thus ruining my beautiful stats.)
I got one for my Dad who likes to run and is also a nerd who likes to look at stats. I won't write a full review here but PM if you have questions. I'm not a Coros shill, but I could easily be bought in case anyone from Coros is watching.

Another buzzfeed article full of gift ideas. This one has weirder probably less useful items but some might be of interest.

this is the best... uh funniest one.

    The Squatty Potty

"Per my husband: "First time I used mine I was like "there's no way the last 3 inches of that poop would have come out without the Squatty Potty.""

it’s actually probably accurate. In India they use floor level squat toilets and squatting to go number 2 feels way better and more natural. Plus if gas stations had them you wouldn’t have to worry about sitting on nasty toilet seats.

Ok. So different people in my family want or need different things. I am currently searching for a nice knife, essentially the hd650 of knifes.

Another gift I got was a battery bank. it was about $17. Pretty good considering the brand and 18w pd(15 is the average).

I would recommend the Tangle Teezer for people with long hair. It does minimal damage to the hair, and untangles hair like a dream.
    https://www.amazon.com/Tangle-Teeze...&keywords=tangle+teezer&qid=1606539201&sr=8-4

For people enjoy french press coffee, I recommend the It's American Press. It's the easiest to clean up coffee setup I ever used.
    https://www.amazon.com/Its-American...keywords=american+press&qid=1606539246&sr=8-2

Maybe a electrical tooth brush if not using one already. The Oral-B cleans really well (if not toooooooo well). There's a wide range of price and features, it's up to the user to pick which one suits the best. The philips ones can't even clean as much as my index finger can.

I don't know if it's weird to give kitchen presents on xmas, but I know a few nifty things to have.

This OXO garlic press works pretty well, and is very easy to clean. https://www.amazon.com/OXO-Grips-So...606539579&sbo=RZvfv//HxDF+O5021pAnSA==&sr=8-5

I'm getting this meat tenderizer, it's supposed to transform lower grade of beef into tender cuts.
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001347JK6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

For kitchen knifes, if you feel like spending a lot on it, go with Shun knifes. It has the best reputation and solid quality. Otherwise, getting a sharpening stone and sharpening the existing knives makes more sense. If you are willing to invest a few hours into it, you could make your knives sharper than any other machined kitchen knifes on the market. The KING stones are a good choice. https://www.amazon.com/KING-KW65-Co...ld=1&keywords=king+1000&qid=1606539754&sr=8-2

Airscape is a pretty useful container for coffee, rice, beans etc. It essentially vacuum seals the thing. https://www.amazon.com/Planetary-De...ild=1&keywords=airscape&qid=1606540062&sr=8-2

Onto the tech stuff, it's pretty neat to have a 3D printer to make trinkets, toys, or even audio gears. Sky is the limit. The Ender 3 is a great budget option. It works pretty well and the community support is great for it. Simple mods can make it even better. https://www.amazon.com/Comgrow-Crea...hild=1&keywords=ender+3&qid=1606540139&sr=8-3

The iFixit tool kit is the de facto tools to use. Great quality and a pretty comprehensive collection. https://www.amazon.com/iFixit-Pro-T...child=1&keywords=ifixit&qid=1606541185&sr=8-2

One of my college friends had a Fluke multimeter for his birthday in high school, and I'm pretty jealous. It's a dream gear to have to work with electronics. https://www.amazon.com/Fluke-117-El...ywords=fluke+multimeter&qid=1606540338&sr=8-3

I'm currently using this high frequency soldering iron. It works even better than the Hakko. It makes me feel much better at soldering than I actually am. https://www.ebay.com/itm/950-150W-H...630896?hash=item52287d7cf0:g:oBwAAOSwGBpd25VN

Finally, back to audio. One thing that changed my listening experience the most is a guitar. The purpose for me to own an instrument isn't to become a guitar hero or master anything, but just get the feel of it. It completely changed my focus when I listen to rocks. I don't know a lot about acoustics. For electric guitar, it's widely available to get one for $100-$200, and modding it is a lot of fun. If you like mid, Epiphone SG or Les Paul are decent. If you like more V, a Squier Stratcaster could be a good choice. For things in between, Telecaster is pretty versatile. After getting one, it's a good idea to get the hardwares properly setup. Then just leave it near (or on) the couch. You'll find people reaching it and play with it quite often.

A gift for anyone who likes giant books, or cocktails, or gorgeous photos: A giant book of gorgeous photos of cocktails.

Recipes, too, but who are you kidding -- no home bartender is going to work any of these into their repertoire. Buy for the photos.
