    Hi all,

I have recently picked up a Soekris DAC in "as new" condition. Within about 2 hours i knew something was a little off as there appeared to be more filters than the manual suggested. I contacted the seller and asked what was up and he told me there were over 50 filters installed and sent me a list of them.

Whilst this has proven to be a little difficult to start navigating, i didn't let me put it off.

I found one (no idea which one) which sounded good to me and ran it for a few days via an Allo USBridge.

Happy with my new DAC i added a NovaFidelity/CocktailAudio N15D to use as a network transport, but rather than use the ethernet, i have a SSD plugged into the back and store my files there. I use the inbuild app for playback control.

Via Toslink (Amazon Basic cable) it is seamlessly playing tracks, however when i use a true 75ohm Measurement grade cable (off my oscilloscope) every now and again it loses the sound for a split second then comes back in. The track hasn't stopped, just carried on but was inaudible for a moment. I have tried the inbuilt DAC in the N15D and that doesn't do it ,so i don't think it's the streamer.

USB seems fine too (just doesn't sound as good to me) so i could really use a pointer or suggestion as to what's is going on.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Oliver

    That's fantastic!

    Thank you...

My SN is 000033 so I suspect it's quite early? Maybe I need to get @soekris to work his magic on it. I'd also like these 50 or so filters removed too, as they have very little sense.

I will try that email address too.

    Many thanks.

Yes. You should get it serviced and it'll be good as new ;)

Don't remember receiving any email about that, please email again, or give me your email address so I can search my emails.... Please note I get a lot of emails, so they can easily get lost.... But it sounds like you need to reload the factory firmware and filters, there are instruction on my website how to do that....

Thats Ok. I use a "mail.com" address but i suspect (as sometimes happens) that they get rejected. I have had this before, but i definitly messaged you via DIYaudio, same user name as here.

I will check your website now , but would also like to know if the DAC requires your attention? I only use SPDiff via BNC, so if the DAC need hardware updating as mentioned in that thread, i would like to get that done asap.

I think it is probably wise to send it to @soekris and just get it checked over. Who knows what the last owner did to it!?

The DAC itself have been revalatory to me. I have played with lots of DACS but i really like this one. I would like it to be as good as new.
