I'd love for Doug and Craig to put out some DIY designs like they used to. Doesn't have to be their existing high-end products, but something that can give a taste of their philosophies without boutique parts. I don't really have the time or inclination for DIY anymore, but if either or both put out something, I'd certainly rethink that stance.

Let us be our version of crazy, and others be their version of crazy. There's plenty of room for crazy in the world. The only time the asylum gets crowded is when there is One True Path.

That said, you're gonna see quite a bit of (our flavor of) crazy this year.

That sounds intriguing. Don’t know what your kind of crazy means other than excellent value per dollar but I guess I’ll find out.

Never understood why the Freya S went away. It’s a nice piece of kit other than some noise issues with my Woo.

I would still like to see

less sensitive, flat impedance curve CA BA or hybrid iem that is neutral out of any source.

Better planar magnetic iem’s. There’s huge potential here but they all have tuning issues.

better planar magnetic headphones that are tuned well with good acoustics and less than 1k

tagging option for Tidal and Qobuz to organize artists into categories.

I'd quite like a pre amp with selectable passive/tube-buffer/active options and a built-in equaliser; Balanced/SE input and output.

Why? Well, I'm no audiophile but...

    1. Sometimes I don't need extra gain but don't want added colour
    2. Sometimes I don't need extra gain, but would like to sprinkle some tube goodness on the sound
    3. Sometimes I do need extra gain

    Why the equaliser?
    1. It would be nice not to have an extra box sitting in the rack
    2. Not all sources are digital
    3. I don't want to have to "roll" headphones or speakers to get the sound I'd prefer

I would also like to be able to change all these options from the comfort of my listening chair if I had one. In my case, the couch.

If made by @schiit , it could be a "Freya Vald". According to this site, vald = control/power in Old Norse.

Maybe a product like this already exists. If so, I wonder how affordable it is.

Just thought about this: Bifrost/Jot sized low power poweramp for driving desktop bookshelves that would sit no top and be controlled by an Asgard or Jot. Something a 'la Chord TToby but for midsize Schiit.

With some recent announcements for the Schiit 10 tube amp requiring a front switch for safer shutdown.
Given its size a motorized pot would be awesome, maybe even some speaker taps out the back would be

Love to see a method of buying that doesn't entail risking often a lot of money only to find out you don't like what you bought (and this sometimes only transpiring a few weeks into ownership) - even in spite of doing maximum research on the subject.

Ultimately, this would be a trial-at-home system (because in-store doesn't really work) but so few retailers do it (at least in the UK).

Kudos to Acorn Audio who will send you ZMFs to trial and Elite Audio who let you have a month as long as you pay for return shipping.

I look on enviously at the US guys and the loaner tours.

Also, a digital music application that builds a single library from all your digital music sources and plays from them - Bandcamp, YouTube, SoundCloud, Tidal, Spotify, Qobuz, local files, whatever - just search and play. This will probably never happen.

I would kill a man for a music app like that. Especially if you could play remotely from local storage without major hassles.

Sonos does this. It doesn't support 100% of what's out there, but probably has the most services of any platform. You can search and play from whatever sources you want, or create playlists (accessible on Sonos only) that access all those different sources.

I used to have an MPD setup that basically did this using mopidy, which supports most of the streaming sources through extensions. It was pretty good for about a year, but "major hassles" were a factor in me giving it up for roon.
