Hi everyone. Saw this thread and reached Sergey if he wants to participate. We've been in contact for a while, maybe we will team up somehow in the future on some projects.
He has a language barrier, so I decided I can jump in and talk for him since he doesn't mind.
I'm not financially involved at this moment, just want to help shed a light on some interesting local project (there is more of them).
So you can ask your questions to me, I'll consult with Sergey and post an answer.

Not sure if he got it and\or will reply, but I asked about a loaner.
Seems it can be arranged, but Sergey wants that only people with certain good gear will participate, as his top model - NM-1, is very hard to drive. So the main requirement is at least 2w into a 40ohm headphone amplifier.

We definitely have some high-powered amp users here.

I have 2 First Watt speaker amps and a lot of experience with orthos. That ought to do the trick. :)

About the price difference. I agree, it is a debatable practice, but it is very common here. There are several reasons to this.
Some of them lies into taxing and dealing with county customs - trust me, it isn't easy to export something from Russia. I tried :(

On the other side - many imported goods have a higher price in Russia than they are in America or Ebay.
For instance, the official price for Stax sr-009s is 465 750 roubles (https://doctorhead.ru/product/stax_sr_009_s/), which is about $6210. MSRP is $4300 if I'm correct. It is common for most headphones and audio gear, you can check that shop for other phones. Rates is about 75rub = $1
Another contrary example is regional prices in Steam. Most AAA games cost 2000 roubles here, which is roughly $26. Recently some publishers started to raise that price to $40, but I don't think it is working very well, a very limited number of people are willing to buy games for such prices.
The average salary here is much less than on the west, don't think it is a big surprise to anyone)

Same with phones. Inner hi-end headphone market in Russia is very small, and to make any reasonable sales you have to get a really outstanding deal.
So pricing is a complicated matter. But it is pretty common to differ in different parts of the world =) Also don't forget that he is the only person making them, it is not a company. So he can't handle many simultaneous orders anyway.

Well, if Purrin can organize a list of people matching these criteria and willing to participate - I'll try to make that work =)

Yes, I’m sure he will want to manage this relationship properly. Trusted, long time members only.

For sure. Let me put it in my own words: trusted members with suitable gear and know how to get the best from harder to drive orthos.

This ia normal SBAF practice anyway for higher dollar items. For example, we don't let Topping L30 amplifires get anywhere near stuff like the Final Audio D8000. :p

hard to drive, and planar magnetics seem to be what I always end up using. I'm certainly no stranger to either of those requirements. I'd be up for giving these a try, but as I am in Canada, and can't take measurements, absolutely no worries if I don't fit the bill :)

Harder to drive = use vidar or aegir

(Based on the spl sensitivity as claimed, I believe J2 or stronger would do the job in this case)

    I’m very interested btw.

After seeing this tread I looked at them and decided to jump and bought the SI-2 carbon and they are being built now. Will report back my impressions when I get them.

One reson I coudnt resist was the name (yes embarrasing) Snorry that sounds a lot like a Viking name. Being Swedish that was so close to home.

So far its been smooth sailing.

    cheers

Okay, a bit of a disappointing update. Had a long call with Snorry. In the end he decided he is not ready for any kind of marketing campaign at this time, there is still a lot of production goals he wants to achieve before making a more visible appearance.
But I think I can share the design for the next top planar he is working on right now, maybe he will start marketing it instead in a year or two:
    "Matrix emitter", or matrix planar.

Pictures there should be self-explanatory. This thing just looks plain crazy, I personally looking forward for it =)

I'm assessing interest in a loaner program for my NM-1. There is a thread in the Loaner subforum.
