Also, don't turn your nose up at Ikea. They carry a selection of eastern hand-knotted wool rugs at prices better than you'd find them at specialist shops. You really have to go and look, though, as they're random by store and time.

Still missing an Ikea-sourced Pakistani 8x10 I had in Calgary, which I was told wouldn't go with the new decor - but its replacement has a very similar colour palette... o_O

Thanks and great work on your DIY project. Do you plan veneering/painting those speakers?

Very happy to see the speakers complete. I wish I could come and listen to them!

Maybe you could send me a cassette, and I could do a review on Youtube ;)

Looking good! You can also stick some acoustic foam to the ceiling, will fix a lot of echo and still be quite stealthy. Most people don't notice it until i point it out.
I use akotherm GG which are smooth white with similar properties as rockwool without all the nasties. You will leave some glue residue on the ceiling if you have to move out but having the ceiling redone is not super expensive...

If only I could, I would use a large 2x1m QRD diffuser in-between both speakers in my living room.

Found this rug for $50 at an antique sale in a barn.

Would recommend against antique sales for that item. Probably better to avoid Craigslist too.

Got another chair, everything is basically done, some final completed photos. Maybe one more chair eventually.

Nice! Although I don't like sunlight shining on my gear but I'm sure curtains can solve that. I have some fostex speakers I made and the driver cones are all brown now probably due to sun baking.

What do you think if the speakers compared to the JBL + Altecs horns you had?

Aluminum cones, so shouldn't be too affected by the sun. Plus can't cover that great view.

Compared to the big jbl/altec these are a lot more tight and detailed. Bass may be a bit less but is better, despite the size. Been a while since I had them though.
Maybe in the future I can make it a surround system...
