Aite, im getting Dual Sense. Only reason why I didnt before was concern over reliability. The drifting issue was quite pervasive afaik.

Still use my Xbox 360 controller for PC, too hard to learn a new controller and hasn't failed on any new games so far.

    Got the Dualsense.

Gotta say this is the best controller yet. Playstation DNA definitely, but improved all over. Despite the design change, DS4 user will feel right at home, even at first hold.

Can anyone clue me in on the deal with PS5 availability? I'm trying to get my ducks in a row for Elden Ring and it's still not widely available?!!! What's the best way to get one?

PCGamer claims that the dual sense still isn’t supported on PC the way that the Xbox controllers are. I would love to get a Sony controller to work the same way and as effortlessly as the Xbox controller does for PC. I have not tried the DualSense yet, but the DualShock was an absolute PITA to use on PC and I almost bought an Xbox controller because of it.

Steam natively supports the DS controllers from the PS5 so if you're playing via Steam it's flawless. If you're not using Steam, you need to install a free open source utility: https://ryochan7.github.io/ds4windows-site/

Recently bought a number of games, but haven't started on them yet as I've kept busy by my niece who's visiting me from Toronto. Games I'd gotten are:
    1. Chernobylite
    2. Industria
    3. Dying Light
    4. CoD Vanguard

Skipped BF2042 due to no SP Campaign, plus lack of FSR.....unlike Vanguard which has both FSR and DLSS.

Ah ok, and that’s where the problem for me comes in. DS4Windows is very buggy software and constantly dropped my controllers connection, when the controller was wired. It was even worse over Bluetooth. This would happen to me in the middle of races when I’m playing racing games, which is what led to most of my frustration with using a DualShock controller on PC. I wanted to just get an Xbox controller and be done with the BS. I did for a short period (got the Xbox elite 2) but ultimately decided that kind of money for a controller was probably not needed for casually playing games where I need a controller. I haven’t got around to just buying a regular Xbox controller yet.

    Any Forza Horizon fans?

I'm a recent fan - I purchased Forza Horizon 4 on the cheap because Horizon 5 was coming out. I also ended up buying Horizon 5...

Anyway, Horizon 4 has an annoying feature - the radio can't be shut off (unless you fiddle with the actual program files, etc.) completely. Volume adjustments are from 1 (min) to 10 (max). Level 1 is actually loud enough to hear the radio over the other game volume. GOOD NEWS: Horizon 5 allows players to turn the radio completely down! YAY!

    Just wanted to share.

I use a white Razer Wolverine v2. I got it for sale on Amazon, and didn't know any better. Fortunately, it works great for me! I only use it playing Forza Horizon 4 & 5. I imagine it would be great for fighting games and sports games (football, etc.) as well as driving games. FPS? I don't think I could manage.

I'd gotten a Logitech Wingman Force 3D joystick for flight sims , but found I don't quite enjoy such games. Also got a MS XBox 360 controller for fighting type games, as well as games like TR and DMC, have yet to try Godfall with it. Got a Logitech G29 (didn't get the Driving Force Shifter tho) just so I can play Forza Horizon 4 like a champ, haven't decided on whether I should get FH5, maybe wait on sale for 50% or less before I'd get it.

Been playing Forza since Motorsport 2 came out on the 360 (also love the Horizon spin offs). One of my favorite game franchises. Aside from the online issues at launch, FH5 has been fantastic. I think it’s a big step up from FH4, which I felt like the overworld was very samey and got boring to drive around after awhile.

Regarding radio stations, you can turn it off just by cycling through all the stations (it’s like this on each of the Horizon games). The soundtrack in FH4 was much better though imo.

That’s good to know about cycling through the radio stations - I believe that’s how GTA5’s radio works, too.

I haven’t played FH5 much, and I’ve only have FH4 for a few days. I agree that FH5 is a big step up. The world is immense (makes sense, since Mexico is a much bigger “playground” than Scotland.

Character customization is much better - at least you could opt to buy some “cool” clothes with credits right away. If I’m not mistaken, I was stuck with limited apparel options in FH4 - until they were unlocked via gameplay.

I did notice there were no Lancia vehicles available in FH5 immediately for purchase. Unless they are Barn Finds or unlocked later, that’s too bad. There are a couple of Lancia cars from FH4 that were fun.

If I notice any other major differences - tuning, physics, etc., I’ll make note and add to the thread.

    Any luck yet?

My wife got me one for Christmas. Basically, sign up on twitter for all of the in stock alerts. When a deal comes up, open as many tabs as your browser can handle and refresh them all like mad.

During the TP shortage, she got very good at acquiring hard to find items and it paid off big time in this very unexpected way. :p

I've been playing Guardians of the Galaxy and it's a surprisingly fun game. They really nailed the humor of the comics/movies.

Almost nabbed one from BestBuy.com on Wed. Got past the initial “add to cart” line, but it was sold out by the time I got through to checkout. Maybe next time…

I got mine through the Walmart roulette. Slickdeals usually has the scoop when they will have some in stock and will release a few every 20 min or so. At least at the time I got one, the Walmart mobile app was faster at refreshing (sometimes even refreshed a minute prior to the web) and checking out than the web and I was successful. It did take a few rounds to get one, though.

Download the Hotstock app. When a link goes live it will send you a push notification that takes you directly to the item on the website.

Also keep an eye on the PlayStation Directs. That is how I got mine. If you get there in time for a drop, your put in a queue and can purchase one once it’s your turn.

    Thanks for the recs all.

Related question: I've seen that Elden Ring on PS4 comes with a free upgrade to PS5 edition, but I haven't read whether or not a game save can be continued on the upgraded platform. Does anyone know if saves can transfer if you've started a game on PS4 and want to use the free upgrade to PS5? Or do you have to start from scratch?

All data from your PS4 can be transferred over. I haven't tried it so don't know how well it works, but it's one of the setup options the first time you boot the PS5 up.

Mine also came from PS direct, FYI.

Forza Horizon 5 is a massive step up from FH4, mostly with regards to the game's physics and car behaviors. I'd never be able to play FH4 again after playing FH5. Though I'm a much bigger fan of the Forza Motorsport game, and being Series exclusive I fully expect FM8 to be a full generational leap over even FH5.

Metroid Dread is the game of 2021, though (Monster Hunter Rise is a close second, though) . Possibly the best level design I've ever seen in a video game. Razor sharp game design and gameplay all-around. It makes a large majority of the last 20 years worth of games seem excruciatingly shallow and under-designed by comparison.
