I wouldn’t call myself republican but have drifted more towards votihg that way as I’ve seen first hand what happens in cities and states under long term democratic control. Like I used to be a big proponent of single payer health care tied into some kind of consumption tax but given the last year under Biden where they’ve made race a factor in availability of medical care (and monoclonal antibodies are just the tip of the ice berg with this) I just don’t trust them anymore.

People thinking it’s ok is a sign of the social malaise undermining the country, even sanitized government reports point out the clear benefits to two parent households (I misspoke earlier and said single family, oof) like:

    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4508674/

The fact is that LBJ’s great society seems to have been a colossal failure and that’s most obvious in the segments of society it was meant to help. Now we have people in positions of power saying things like meritocracy and a hard work ethic are symptoms of “whiteness” and must be eradicated. That’s the kind of logic by which empires fall.

Anyway that’s enough politics for now, SBAF is a welcome respite from this for the most part. If only all we had to worry about was audio minutiae.

It's bullshit. That guy is Guo Wengui. He's super shady (way way too much to say) and persona non-grata in China. That he's supposedly now a citizen of UAE sort of says it all. He's a nutcase and conspiracy theorist. The video appears to be a more of a condemnation of the CCP as much as COVID conspiracy crap. (Keep in mind that vid posted is just a snippet of the entire thing.)

I can't believe dumb Americans fall for this stuff.

I'm all for what Justice Alito recently said with respect to vaccines and mandates:

... all of whom have balanced the risks differently, maybe very foolishly, but they want to balance the risks presented to their health in a different way. And OSHA says, no, you can't do that, and that applies when you're on the job and also when you're not on the job and for the rest of your life because you have to take these vaccines, unless the testing option is viable.

However, I am have no patience for COVID conspiracy bullshit, especially if when it's misinterpreted by wacko politicians looking to get attention the cheap way. There is a difference between being conservative and being stupid. Gawd, I hate politicians so much today. One party I hate with my left brain, the other party I hate with my right brain.

The very website has a disclaimer on the home page warning that "Content and opinion discovered here should not be relied upon." Even the publisher doesn't believe this shit. The world never ceases to remind me how many stupid people trod its surface.

@purr1n should I just do WSJ for all news or continue to use "free-news" like Drudge/The Hill/Politico.

I think issue is that I want to follow news for local stuff like NE FL related matters and State matters (where the FL GOP never fails to find new ways to screw my wallet). I RSS that shit so I can be informed.

News overload f'ing sucks. In other news, I need to see a SBAF Member in real life one day like maybe visit someone. I'm pretty fuzzy.

I stopped following all national news related sources online except Reuters and The Hill. I've been pleased with The Hill recently, especially the Rising show on YouTube that I watch clips of pretty regularly. Kim Iverson has been a breath of fresh air.

Browse WSJ headlines before the paywall to see if it's interesting enough to you. That's what I did before I started paying to get past the paywall.

I like WSJ because it is economically oriented and have learned via hard lessons since the dot-bomb and mortgage crisis to always check on the pulse of the economy. Mostly, I like reading the investigative reports: how their reporters went dumpster diving and sold expired foodstuffs on Amazon, how they developed algorithms to mimic Tik Tok usage and how Tik Tok would send people down a black hole of depression, how Elon Musk is doing cool shit with his satellite Internet, how their reporters dug up shit on Federal judges having conflicts on interest in patent cases and how truly shitty (and against the law) some of the judges reacted to it (and how ZOMG wealthy these judges are), how Evergrande in China is a fucked company and how this could precede a reckoning, and of course the Facebook Papers, including the PowerPoint slides and all.

It's almost like I'm watching the investigative reporting supplement to one of Stanley Kubrick's films on the depravity of people who are in power.

Politics is boring. I mean, what's different? Just the same one hundred super rich assholes in the Senate and mouth breathing governors from both red and blue states. The same ol' same ol'. Trump, Jan 6, Brandon, Broke Back Better, whatever. Supreme Court stuff is interesting though, I love reading the Justices' reasoning. I'm a big John Roberts fan, although I'm sure many would call him a RINO. Again, whatever. And I'm always waiting for Clarence Thomas to cite Leviticus or Deuteronomy. That guy would be so fucked if he didn't have good law clerks. :)

As far as the tilt of the court: RBG shouldn't have let it get it her head and think she was immortal. She knew she was sick very early on and should have stepped down much sooner way way before 2016.

Although I'm really only fluent in English, my Mandarin comprehension (amongst a few other languages) is marginally functional enough that I can confirm the translation is correct.

With that being said, what Marv said, he has no credibility OR he is very likely a higher level of psy ops / troll / wu mao (gov paid "commenter" that goes around trolling people, creating doubt, etc). I can also tell you my contacts in China I've briefly talked to about this stuff do want to get vaccines and not surprisingly, their own top level people got it first (which to me speaks louder than anything).

He's got a funky accent. Like someone from Guangdong who learned Northern accent - to curry favor with Beijing. Had to recalibrate a bit since I'm so used to Taiwanese Mandarin.

Been using allsides.com. It's useful to see some of the spin in action side-by-side

Cool. It says WSJ online is smack in the middle. You see you guys! I'm not a right wing nutcase. I'm in the middle. It's the rest of you guys who are far left. I also listen to NPR in the car. I stay far away from opinions. Seems only nutjobs write the opinion pieces.

I always like The Hill since they do a good round-up of the news in DC. I should watch the Rising Show, but I watch too much junk.

Always look at the media bias chart, because most don't.

LOL, I'm more of a fan of Gorsuch if I have to be honest. Of course with the Tilt of the Court it comes back to them saying this fact over and over: Congress....do your job.

WSJ News has slight right-wing bias but it is nicely done. Opinions is a different story cause....Opinions.

NPR is also ok, but some of their news I think has that lean left stuff to it.

So I have Drudge Report being right but only due to how they display the links. I have the The Hill which is in the middle for me, and Politico is slightly left. I guess I'm doing good and going too far on one side.

They know it, but they try. One's able to decipher from both. They aren't full-retard like CNN or NewsMax.

There's only two on there that I take issue with. The Economist is a split personality (as perceived by us 'Murricans), because they're classical British "Liberal" (as opposed to American Christian Conservative, which is far from Laissez-Faire socially to compare, but mostly Laissez-Faire economically). And the Epoch Times news couches too much of their content from a Biblical perspective to keep away from a Judeo/Christian historical bias.

Ahhh yes, the Epoch Times & The Washington Times. Why these crazy AZNs gotta go cray cray on these news outlets? @purr1n knows what I'm talking about.

Paul is grilling dr Anthony Fauci. What do you think are his chances of getting anything from dr Anthony Fauci that is not a lie or has any meaning?

You are overlooking one thing: Looking good on the camera with soundbites from the Senator...great to get supporters to open up their wallets and donate to the Senator's PAC. End of the day: Feelings = $$$$

If the supporters were on the Senator's mailing list: You bet his "soundbites" were on the email asking people to give him $20 for the "cause."

That's not about political games anymore. With 800k infections in a day, two years of the pandemic, well Kim Iversen from Raising put it better than I ever can.
What has been happening for the last two years is not "evolving science" it is at best a complete failure, at worst, she is right, something that we could not even imagine possible in 21 century.

I don’t give a f**k who is right and who is wrong on this actually. Want I care about is who is making $$$ off the regular hairy bums like me. Last time I check Dr. Facui is loaded with $$$ and so is Senator Ryan, who is getting tons of donations from people who saw him on video looking cute on with that make up where they feel fuzzy inside and open up their wallets.

As usual, Goldwater was right on why bringing cameras to Congress was a shit idea. He even saw Male Senators started to use make up when they go on video back in the 80s.

Make Congress Great Again: Get more Cameras out of Congress.
