You are right, I didn't realize I was being redirected to headphones.com and was looking at their policy.

Still quite an opportunity to bargain for these out there right now.

And they are in the range of $1200-$1400 in mint condition with shipping to Canada. It is weird indeed.
365 days return is the headphones.com policy not HEDD. That means that people who bought those headphones somewhere else are trying to get rid of them fast? Why, the reviews were pretty good.

I was tempted but I know the weight will be too much for me. At about 550 grams I tap out.

Got a set on loan. Haven't really read through this thread yet so my thoughts are my own. Super quick impressions so far:
    - excellent bass extension with rumble but sloppy impact, long decay, some harmonic distortion in the midbass
    - mids rise up on a shelf, not sure if this is distortion or more decay I'm hearing but it gets hazy especially during complex music
    - treble also very well extended, no wobbly FR, cleaner than the mids
    - these things are power hungry
    - very comfy pads and headband despite the weight (edit: I take it back, the top of the headband gets uncomfortable after an hour and I feel the two pressure spots on each side)
    - staging feels low almost below my ears, but very good width
    - texturing ok, detail ok, but suffers from that mud
    - clean enough for mixing? eh... I feel like they are good for evaluating levels (mid hump notwithstanding), but not for picking out nuances
    - they do sound quite open and spacious despite the haze

Using a bit of EQ to bring down the mids helps to clear up some of that mid haze, but not completely. It's like... when it's super muggy/humid out and you just can't get a full breath in your lungs. You're not choking, but there's an unsatisfying element to it. The faster/busier the music, the worse it feels. Trying to play something like Slayer makes me feel claustrophobic.

    Subbass performance is phenomenal though.

How does it compare vs your HE-6?

HEDD is better in subbass extension and perhaps even treble flatness/extension, but that's about the only win I'll give it. HE-6 is better in overall clarity by a long shot.

They're stupid heavy but seem to distribute a bit better on my head than say an Audeze LCD-4. Still not buying either, my neck has had enough punishment.

Can't recall much about sound but I thought they were technically competent but lacking in engagement. Vague but that's all I've got. Think I heard them on a Chord TT2, which is probably partly to blame, as I feel largely the same about Chord products.

That's a sad statement because the HE-6 isn't that clear or resolving IMO

If you havent heard HE-6 powered by the warp drive of the Starship Enterprise then I can see how you would think that.

The HE-6 is the most difficult to drive headphone in history. What were you using? Even opinions on the affordable HD6X0 series get scrutinized to see if they were adequately powered so please dont take offense. Just curious. Ive not heard the legendary HE-6 except maybe at a meet a long time ago.

A First Watt Aleph J speaker amp and a First Watt F7 speaker amp. And my SOHA1 which sounds just as good with them due to it's unique build. You couldn't ask for better amps to drive the HE-6. the drivers are more open sounding than Audeze's drivers, but Audeze's drivers are much more resolving. The HE-6 has a sort of clarity effect but if you have other better orthos or listen more closely, it's sort of like BA drivers. A veneer of clarity, but not actually resolving that much information.

They're still Hifmian's best orthos though, and some of the best on the market IMO. Just not a benchmark for clarity or resolution IMO.

if HE6 is not a benchmark in clarity or resolution, how are they “Hifiman’s best” over Susvara?
    (Sorry not a HEDD question)
