^ This. Not just weight, but size, children? The LCD-4z weighs 560g with a magnesium chassis, so replacing the chassis with the acetone one would probably get it to ~480 keeping the larger driver and cup size as well. I'm probably one of the few that prefers the non-LCD5 headbands and larger cup size (blame my large ears).

Not sure if you’ve tried an LCD-5 but the tapered pads are a blessing for large ears like ours.

People like me with screwed up necks from years of bad posture / cellphone and computer use?

And Ether 2 is only 290g.

It'll be so light like it wasn't there. But that smell though...

Anyways, taking out half of the magnet array to make it only single-sided tends lighten the load.

And how does it sound? ;)

First impression is not at all, but I've literally only listened to one test track... a telling one, but still

No argument. Just pointing out LCD-5 gets "Most Improved Student" not "Lightest Planar Evar"

I've always had a weak spot for Audeze. Look forward for more impressions!

I'm one of those that isn't bothered much by weight. I do wish they kept the size of the cup/driver, but I understand Audeze wants to target broader audience.

Because we have at least two real user impressions, I feel like we should change the thread title to impression or discussion rather than speculation.

or let the speculation thread die and start a fresh impressions thread. Reading thru 4+ pgs of guessing to get to the impressions is kind of a slog...

Not sure I agree. Based on Seinfeld's assertion that the best time in product ownership is the period between paying for it and actually getting it, I think we should just stay in speculation mode, maybe on everything going forward, to avoid disappointment. Like we can go one step beyond Amir by just measuring things but then not even listening to them at all, just offering speculation on how they might sound. That way, whatever headphone someone buys next will be their end-game, because it will always be perfect in their mind.

    No, I agree, new thread.

you mean someone over there listens to things? I thought they just measurbated and, as long as it wasn't noisy, didn't care about how it actually sounded...

Just curious. Is that your own pair or a review/demo pair sent from Audeze? Or loaner pair from someone else?

Try right angle 3.5mm connectors. They’d have to be turned a bit to the outside since the cups look like they’d get in the way. Such an unfortunate oversight on their totl. Coming soon: LCD-5 v2.

Whaaat. You've been hustling mod services long enough I think. How many people besides me have you offered your services in exchange for money, Im speaking specifically of course of modding headphones and/or sourcing vintage headphones for your mods. You've asked me kindly not to share mods of vintage ortho or of modern T50RP for your benefit. I've complied some (not enough to your liking) and even sold you some phones for your inventory (which im annoyed because I only sold because you said you needed money and were going to resell as modded which you never did but it turns out you can afford an LCD5). What other threshold must you meet to be a MOT? Do you have to have a website? E_Schaaf held MOT title for modding headphones as a side business for a long time. Please take notice that Marv writes shit about Schiit all the time and is open about his relationship with them. Please post impressions?

Uhh, I don't think public posts are the place for this type of discussion.

Yes, Marv can talk shit about Schiit since he works there. He has to be careful about saying "wow, Schiit is so much better than <other_brand/product>". Same with RD. He can make fun of his own mods if he wants but crapping on the unmodded version is where he has to be careful.

He doesnt respond to private messages even though he inititiates. Mostly its just him telling me off or to ask kindly for something.

He doesnt just not post impressions about Audeze loaners (why is he accepting loaners then?) but also his recent loaner from ETA because he said it would be a conflict of interest.

I don’t either, but I guess I will respond to all the misinformation in this post.

This is a lot of aggressive and emotional fiction and not factual.

I’ve asked you to leave me alone, both politely and then directly. And yet you continue to post in threads about my modded orthos and interact with me.

“Hustling mod services”. Not once have I solicited mod services to someone. I have said that I am modding orthos and mentioned only a couple times publicly that I hope to do it commercially and I have started to share some of those mods. People have asked me about having their orthos modded and I have responded, but I have not taken money for anything yet because very few have heard my headphones to know if they want them.

Ive also only say that I mod headphones so people know they are modded and not stock and have context, like when I talk about the bass on the LCD-5 - I don’t remember what the bass was like stock. I have only mentioned modding orthos commercially a couple of times on this forum in my loaner threads.

I never bought any headphones from you under any pretense of selling them for X price. You sold your T60rp to E_Schauf and if I bought a TX0 from you, I resold it at price or did not mod it. All orthos I have modded I have sourced myself. I've been sourcing orthos for 17 years, why would I need to source them from you?

I never asked you for headphones because I “needed money”. I’ve never done that in my life, I would not beg someone for headphones because I need money whether I need it or not.

Me affording an LCD-5 is none of your business. But I will say that I am in a very unique situation in my life and it’s not the same as anyone else on this forum. Music is all I have right now.

E_Shauf asked for MOT status when he started selling headphones. I have not sold any headphones. When/if I do I will do the same.

Would you prefer that I say absolutely nothing about the LCD-5? I tried to say some positives and one blatant confounding mess up for the benefit/amusement of the community. That is all.

Please leave me alone Philmon. I will not argue with you about this, or continue whatever this is. This is just noise.

Let's keep everything simple (and less emotionally hurting to anyone).. My thoughts below.

    1. MOT or not MOT doesn't seem relevant. I believe it matters when someone tries to upsell something hiding conflicts of interest. I don't think this is the case.

    2. I may understand where Phil is coming from. I do want to read RD's full ruthless impression about the unit he is having no matter it's modded or not as long as the status is well-defined in the review. If I'm not mistaken, Phil seems to believe any potential conflicts of interest from doing so could be ruled out by putting MOT tag or disclosing COI.

    3. OTOH RD doesn't seem to want to post anything that (1) he doesn't like AND (2) is related to any businesses he want to develop later. Maybe there are some kind of product-use agreements or something associated with bigger pictures.

    4. Both views (#2 and #3) are understandable. As a reader, my position is closer to #2. As a reviewer, I'm more like #3 (I always omit negatives or smear some details that can potentially attack owners, lovers, loaning sources, etc). But considering all potential risks, unless it's violating forum rules or ethics, I believe the right to say something or not is eventually up to a posting person.

    5. Lastly.. I am speaking this loudly again. Can't we lift "speculation" from the thread title? That makes me mildly uncomfortable with a meaningful number of non-speculation posts ..

    Sorry for derailing the thread.
