Need advice on building a measurement system

    I was at a local radio shack and I saw this odd little dual mic pcb kit


    I was wondering if the mic's were to be mounted in a dummy head(box or whatever else) would this work to record frequency response and other measurements?

    Lol that setup was the reason for my trip, the prices were ridiculous on the parts they did have there. I bought the kit thinking I might be able to change up a few things and have a 2 channel setup for $20.

    I am not very savvy when it comes to electrical components and got bit overwhelmed trying to find the exact parts for the cheap/easy setup mentioned. I already got this lil kit so im gunna see what I can do with it, not worth the drive to go return it.

    so after building it the mics were noticeably different in volume. I re-soldered the leads on them them, checked all my other connections..... and lastly i thought hmmm is this just a pos product. Yup. Microphones are about 300ohms apart, so do not buy this

    So, the ratshack kit was a turd. Now I am trying to buy the parts for a setup to measure FR and other. I am planning on using this with my laptop running windows 10.

    I am looking at
    2x microphones(Dayton EMM-6 or Behringer ECM8000)
    Audio Interface(Behringer U-Phoria UMC404HD)

    Curious if anyone has experience with these or has any better recommendations(that won't break the bank)

    So couple more details of why I was looking at the behringer audio interface, it pulls power from a wall plug. No idea if latency would be issue with usb power and data transfer simultaneously. With 2 mics that need phantom power seems like a lot of juice moving through usb alongside the audio. The laptop I have is decent enough(intel i5 w/ 8gb ram) but I have no idea what kind of resources(cpu/ram) a device will need to operate to full potential.

    The other issue that concerns me a bit is the power requirements. I have no shortage of usb ports but would like to have the device operate as independently as possible. The os my computer came with was win8, been through the updates and am now using win10. It runs well enough but some of the power features seem fragmented/scattered. Options are now in settings app(new win 10 os), control panel(old windows os), and vaio care(sony software). It all functions but I am trying to avoid any possible issues that could arise.

    Got the interface, mics, and cables.

    Now on to building the mounting system.
    Couple questions-
    I have noticed that a lot of the measurement systems others built look like they are sealed. Is this mainly to isolate the mic from noise or is there other reasons for this?

    I am trying to build a setup with 2 microphones and the issue I am running into is mounting them in a fashion that does not require the headband being over stretched. The mic is omnidirectional but would it affect measurements if the mic was at an angle?​
