    Hey man,

How do Friends in the UK get in on some loaner action? I can check out the level of interest from the people here. Could we make a refundable deposit into the SBAF account and cover shipping and insurance? Would an arrangement like that convince the SoCal community to consider including us in loaner programs?

I’m a friend, but I don’t think many folks here know me. I read a lot, and have been since before Tyll started IF (and, I enjoyed CS quite a bit), but don’t contribute much. The balance between objective-ish and subjective always seemed most reasonable.

Reason most folks don’t know me: I’m 29, don’t have expendable money, and therefore my experience with newer gear is very limited. I’m a musician (most of the nicer things I have are guitars, amps, etc.). Have an HD650 (went through about 10 headphones around that price over the years, until I settled), a DIY amp, random cheaper headphones for practical applications, some studio gear, decent living room speaker setup (KEF LS50s (because the measurements & subjective impressions seemed unanimously positive), but I have no real experience with any headphone that costs more than $500.

From my perspective, if someone doesn’t know what they’re talking about & have personal experience with gear, they probably shouldn’t add noise & uninformed bullshit to threads & discussions that people (like me) find valuable due to their high signal to noise ratio.

I live in Rock Island, IL and have absolutely no stores within 150+ miles that have any decent demo headphones. So this loaner program seems like the best way for me to experience some of the gear I’ve spent so much time reading about.

All that to say, would the Klingon high council of SBAF consider me for participation at some point?

    Qapla’!

Looking forward to becoming a friend and participating in loaners someday. Looks like a great way to experience gear!

Most of my gear is "nothing new" or probably already done the loaner rounds but I would happily offer anything from my signature to contribute to loaner program and maybe someday I'll get to try something interesting. didn't want to PM OP since I'm a nobody still.
