ZMF EIKON & ZMF ATTICUS

Now I am also wondering what amps and dacs will have a good synergy with atticus and eikon.
Any thought?

 

They're high impedance dynamics, so the usual suspects of tube amps will likely synergize very well.

 

With the caveat that you probably dont want too warm and gooey a tube amp since these are already pretty warm. I would imagine they would sound great out of the Valhalla 2. Maybe I will take mine over with me next time.

 

I feel like most of the tube amps that get recommended here are not warm and gooey, but good point.

 

Very true, most of the ones recommended here would be perfect. I just didnt want any randos that might come by to just assume any tubes would work.

 

ditto you can hear deep into the music and it had a liquid quality to it from the driver itself.

 

Zach mentioned he preferred OTL amp for Eikon and Atticus compared to say LAu and another amp I can't recall right now. I reckon my Glenn OTL Darna would be a good match. Still contemplating getting the Eikon. The weight is the only thing that turns me off. I don't like the weight of the Audeze's for reference.

 

Hm, I think I'll avoid the temptation to preorder the Eikon and stick with my HD650. Maybe I'll change my mind once production units get shipped out and there are more impressions out there.

 

Just a little tidbit from Zach in a thread on Reddit, looks like the first 75 orders will be the first batch to go out. From my order this morning there's no clear indication of what # you are as the actual order number is 6 digits long and likely applies to all types of orders and not just the dynamics.

 

Zach just confirmed that I was in the first 15 orders (via online-chatting in the ZMF website). How responsive his customer service was!

Mine is Eikon Cherry with XLR termination. Hesitated a lot, but weight difference really mattered for me.

 

Yep we should be in the same "order". I don't know if you've bought a ZMF before but he gives customers a spreadsheet that lists the headphones and their statuses so you can see where it's at. He said he'd get it out to us when he can.

Oh yeah. He really scared me with the estimated weights but I think he did say he plans on having both Cherry and Padauk below 550g if he can. either way, the LCD-3 I found to be tolerable and the HE-6 was zero problem for me.

 

What's your point? We also discussed the weight issues, I pointed out the spreadsheet system, and I originally posted to answer a question from the prior page. I agree the discussion on orders is enough as it stands, but I don't see the harm.

Not completely sure yet where is the borderline.
But my understanding is if it is a closed communication (only a few are concerned) rather than a discussion (many are interested, and open to anybody), use PM, not post replies.

If this is what you intended, I can agree and will follow the rule (such as "increase SNR").

 

A Cherry Eikon is getting sent to me shortly/this week. Should be a fun time.
