    Turns out pc + screen + dac + amp + speakers = 90kg.

A 100kg limit IKEA desk doesn't cut it, and most other office tables aren't any better.

I prefer to keep computers under desks.

In fact, my dream room would have them in a "server room," just the other side of a wall. In reality, the best I can do is on the other side of another desk.

Unless it is small and cute (and silent), why... on the desk?

I keep them under the desk when the desk is not against a wall.

This time it is, and builds like mine - tons of fans (14) spinning really slow - tend to rebreathe exhaust and get louder when boxed in.

On the desk will be quieter.

I'm also taking this chance to make my first and last glow in the dork RGB build, on the basis that it's better to do it now, as opposed to as a middle age crisis thing in a decade or two :)

Where the hell do you find a desk with an 800 kg limit? It's hard enough for me to find tables, stainless or wood, with greater than a 250 kg limit for commercial use.

@Vansen industrial furniture, not office furniture.

    It's technically a workbench.

Most of them have a foot-rest, but it is possible to find ones without one, and with a 4-5cm thick laminated solid wood surface, like mine.

I've found some with 2000kg limits.

@Vansen this is the sort of stuff that comes with holes for hydraulic or air power hoses.

Edit: casual search found a 20000lbs limit bench (!) at benchdepot.com

All I can think of is that this would make a fantastic lead in to a "your mom" joke.

But seriously, how much stuff are you throwing on your desk? Can't get a nice stand to take some of the load off?

I can dig the dorky glow aspect though. I have enough RGB stuff on my desk to make it look like a unicorn vomited here.

Well, it's a full tower case with a massive liquid loop, a 35" 21:9, speakers + stands, full-size dac and amp, and that's before everything else that has to live on the desk.

My home office ain't large, my *other* office is a smithy, so yeah the desk'll be a mite busy.

I find PCs elevated from the floor tend to suck in less dust as well. I used to have my desktops on a stool at minimum if there was no desk space.

I think you are right about the dust aspect, but really... a full-size server case on the desktop? Neither the case nor the desk is built for it!

It's simple: You make the case the desk. ;)
