I'd like to confirm this please send your WA234 to me for assurance purposes... Maybe the Phi as well... Oh right and a reinforced desk too.

Is this one of the first amps you prefer Utopia out of vs DAVE direct?

    Funny!

It'd probably be cheaper to buy a plane ticket ...

And yes - so far it's a first.

I wonder what's inside of that WA234 beast-of-an-amp, to cost over $14k(!?)... besides the uber-expensive "Cursive aluminum casing with CNC machining". Yikes.

This is all I could find on google: http://www.234mono.com/#stage-3
There's some internal schematics, partially-shown guts & info; unfortunately for me, I can't understand any of that tube-tech stuff, heh, but maybe one day!

While not cheap, the "composed of many, identical, flat plates" build of the casework means it's less expensive than a single-piece cast or milled to the same precision. Also means you can do this with a two-axis mill (or laser cutter for less robust materials) instead of needing huge billets of metal and a 5 or 6 axis mill.

Why is "CNC machining" a hifi sales point? Or is that *anything* can be made into one.

I find metal-work and machining fascinating. Currently, I watch more videos about it than I listen to music. I also love a beautifully-made thing. But I'm worried when I know that a huge proportion of the cost of some electronic item is... the box.
