    It's become very commercial. I don't care for it. Never have. That doesn't make it a bad resource though.

    Got my current job thru LinkedIn (5.5 yrs ago now). Probably depends on your field: in geosciences, organizations with vacancies advertise there and recruiters use it. A lot of noise these days though - be discerning about accepting connection requests.

    I've been signed up for maybe 20 years and not received a lot of shit, but do get a few odd requests to link. Then again, I have pretty much had a non profile since retired. Oh and I locked down privacy stuff so only connections can email. I guess I would be opening the floodgates if un-privatizing
