So how does the HE-500 compare to Verum? I'd been thinking about jumping on the Verum campaign but didn't want it to feel sonically redundant amongst my other planars.

It depends on how you have HE-500 configured. I really like HE-500 stock but with Dekoni TH-900 Series Fenestrated Sheepskin pads. This is a very neutral sound. Verum, with the pads I preferred was a little more laid back. They are both very competent headphones. I'm not sure Verum would be an upgrade though.

I wasn't expecting an upgrade by any means, just a different flavor. But thanks for your impressions!

Verum 1 will be less v-shaped compared to HE-500 with stock pads, tighter bass and more natural timbre.

Hearing is fine...that was a scare though. Loud SPL can damage hearing regardless of frequency.

Take a break? My ears get fucked sometimes whenever I have a busy day out and about and go for music after. What are you experiencing, exactly? :/

Galaxy S5 just doesn't cut it after hearing Multibit or even NOS. Might consider the M0 and stream via BT.

@cskippy nice! What games do you have on the back burner? Been wanting to pick up a PS4 (non-Pro) for my JRPGs, haha.

To whomever posted London Grammar, in one of the threads, thank you. Truth Is a Beautiful Thing is just phenomenal!

Doubling the sentiment. Someone posted their cover of Bittersweet Symphony about a year or so ago and I've been a massive fan since. Truth is a Beautiful Thing is one of my current faves!

It is a terrible shame the first album was recorded so terribly. 'Hey now' is probably the most obvious example.

Been burning them in. They are very good at this point. But yeah there is a mid-range consistency and coherence with modded 650's that is a hint more correct and slightly more open! But the staging, sense of ease, focus and frequency extremes is already noticeably better! Been running Auteur pads only at this point! Still going to keep my 650's. Will post picture on Auteur thread!

Congrats! I think you'll appreciate what they bring over the HD650 as a whole, although HD650 midrange is still tough to beat.

Did you ever get a chance to hear any ZMF pads on the HE-6 aside from the perforated ori's and suedes you posted measurements for a few months ago?
      1. cskippy
        cskippy
I have not. I might be getting an Atticus with Suedes to try and will ask for the new Auteur non perfated pads to try. I'll need to borrow my buddies HE-6 again though, so no promises.

I see you own the Code X6 (modded by @LFF) w/ Hardwired BTG cables. Do you know if (those specific) Hardwired cables are a requirement, for Luis, to properly Mod the HE-6's? I also own Brian Goto's French-silk braided-type cables w/ Mini-XLR ends & multiple Adapters for my other headphones. It's the Q-Audio cable version, not the BTG-direct one, so I'm not sure if it even matters w/ Ω, Gauge or soldering wise?

Just wanted to give you props for going for it, building it up & finally achieving such a bad-ass & beautiful end-game Setup (oh & nice rack too, btw!) from today's pic!

I'm gonna follow in ya footsteps & save-up for something that's quite the similar TOTL caliber; as the end of my own audiophile journey nears... towards full enlightenment, audio nirvana & great Schiit alike, LOL!
Have fun & happy listening, man! :]

I saw that you're now selling your Yggdrasil A2 along w/ your Spring DAC. Don't mean to sound nosy, but if I may ask... care to share a reason for selling both of your TOTL DACs? Or is it, perhaps, personal/TMI?
