You made it complicated. It is most likely because you have some specific demands. I almost gave myself a headache picking a pesto until I became hungry.

It totally can be. What works for me is heavy amounts of research before I buy paired with an unwavering willingness to walk away if it smells funny. Good luck, and try not to stress too much. Have some pesto.

For a lot of people buying a car is in the top 5 in terms of money outlay over their lifetime so it's going to be normal that it's stressful and time consuming... My advice, keep in mind that a car will never pay you anything back like a home or education.

Best advice about car buying I've ever heard: "If you can drive it, fly it, float it, or f*** it... LEASE IT!"

Good advice gents. @Deep Funk nailed it, I'm picky but I've never spent this much money on a car before so I want it to be very tidy.

Unfortunately can't lease it with my type of work.
Now I want some pesto, but which type? haha

This is by far the absolute best pesto I've ever had, but IDK if they ship down under

I’ve got to disagree with @elnrick if you’re planning on Keeping your car for the long term don’t lease. Dealers love leases bc they can hide a lot of money away in the forms.

Speaking as someone who was formerly in the industry on the tech side. Dealers were always trying to get the forms made more confusing so they could hide away more costs.

Best value is in buying late model used. You don’t take the initial devaluation hit of a new car.

Yeh, my plan was to buy a 2016 toyota hilux for around 44k aud. new they are 53k. However i can buy a new bt50, isuzu or ranger XLS for 44k which makes it a difficult choice

Statistically Hilux should last as long as you want it to. Isuzu and Mazda don’t have as good a record of reliability.

Hilux, when you don't want to ever think about your car again. Mazda when you want a little bit more bling for buck. What are the engines used your side of the globe? I hear the new 2.6L Toyota V6 is trouble in hot climate.

The 2.8 litre diesel is the new generation Hilux engine. Some early issues with the particulate filter, a little less powerful than Mazda and ford engine but far more refined and economical.
I also figure if I hate it the resale will be excellent
