Nice! Regretting going with a gaming laptop for my last build rather than regular pc builds I've been doing for 20 years. Difficult to make a powerful laptop quiet and I can definitely hear it in quiet bits of music.

Yeah that's definitely the downside of laptops. You could try underclocking it and putting it on a cooling stand with big slow fans to quiet it down.

    Did you change PC’s or upgrade a component(s) ?

Moved my system from a Corsair 760t into a Define R6, and switched from a top exhaust h100i to a Noctua NH-D14 and closed top.

Reading your thread makes me want to tinker with my PC, but it already runs cool and is inaudible from my sitting position.

One of the best changes I've made was drilling a hole through the wall so I could move my hard drive arrays out of my office. Gear with good snr means squat in a noisy environment!

@pedalhead They’re a bag of hurt all over. Big, heavy, loud, hot, prone to failure, fragile, expensive, mostly unupgradeable, depreciate steeply. Always wanted one, eyed up the Clevo rebadges many times, but could never bring myself to get one. I hooked up a 12” 1080 HORI lcd and stuck a small keyboard to it for the sit back and put my legs up experience. Until I just started using my Switch all the time..

Yeah won't go with a laptop again. Though, gpu prices need to drop a fair bit before I go building another pc :-(

Christ! I kept hearing about how the cryptominers were jacking up the prices but hadn’t actually looked until just now.

The prices are much better now than they were 3 months ago. 1080 Ti's were about 1200-1500, 1070s were 800-900 and 1060s were 400-500. Everything at Fry's this weekend was within 10% of MSRP except AMD cards.
