Try a Roccat Taito. I have the cloth one. 8 years of solid use with no fraying edges. It cleans up fine in the washing machine too. The current "2017" edition comes in desk-mat size.

Thanks at least the Roccat does not have any complaints about stink like the others. I sent a 3M pad back because of it. No Chinese outgas generators in my house. May stick with my 24x11 $4 tile sample for now.

FWIW, the large one I got had no smell and is identical in quality to my Glorious PC Gaming Race pad.

@fraggler, is the one you mentioned the Roccat taito 2017? And what is the Taito Control on Azon, anyone? Mini might work for me
