    @Wilson In my (limited) experience their signatures correspond with the mass of the transducer. Electrostatic = light: transient speed, effortless/smooth treble. Dynamic = heavy: impact, slam, dynamics. Wish I could have both. Used to own an AKG K340 which was a hybrid electrostatic/dynamic design; not perfect by any means but I regret selling that headphone.

    @Magnetostatic_Tubephile having owned the esp950 at least 5 times, I can tell you the only squeal I've encountered are on energizer units that sat around for decades and I've refurbed them myself. These seem to be new production units.

    @zerodeefex I wasn't poking, just nudging, lol. I've always liked the ESP950, but have held off a few times at $599 and $650 sale prices. If they were $299 without engergizer and a Stax adapter (cough cough), I would be all over them. For now I will wait, but I WILL purchase when they are released. Enjoying speaker land too much to worry about sinking $$$ into more cans that won't be delivered for 6 momths.
