@rtaylor76 I generally like to finish up around the end of first crack for a city/medium roast (not a big fan of dark roasts). Screwed up before this roast even hit first crack!
@famish99 I got started with a SC/TO setup (w/thermoprobes and Artisan) and more recently moved to a Behmor 1600+. Both have their advantages and are affordable ways to get into home roasting. It's lots of fun and a very practical way to insure a steady stream of fresh coffee. PM me if you have any questions.
I roasted for years and used a number of methods including the 2 mentioned above. Behmor is great. If you want to do it very cheaply it can be as simple as a wok and stove.
@westernmac I hate grassy coffee. In the US I probably would have just run to the grocery store and settled for something decent but not the freshest off the shelf. In China I’d just be screwed.
