Functionality is great, if you need something over a bare pi roon endpoint. It's own app can play Internet radio and other shit, and you can Bluetooth/Spotify to it which is handy when guests come over and wanna listen to their own shit.

I can't speak to sound quality, in order to prevent nervosa its spdif coax is the only thing I've listened to on my 2ch systems. Oh, and it's still getting firmware updates even with the new model out.

However if you're fine with just WiFi/Ethernet functionality and don't mind messing around with Linux a bit a good pi is probably better sound.

TR-X00 arrived. Cable has weirdo Not-Invented-Here plugs and is microphonic like you're wearing a stethoscope, to the point of unusability.

Holy crap, I didn't even know about the TR-90 before now. That's a bit confusing.

First thing that came to mind was the Fostex TH500RP, which looks like the basic TH body, save that it's open-backed with planar drivers. I guess the ___RP designation is for planars (e.g. the above or T50RP), while TH-___ is for... no idea. The TH line has had detachable cables before in the 900 mk2 and 610. TR for "removable"?

Massdrop TR-X00 and TH-X00 only differ in the removable cables. And the connection is inverted polarity from the HD6XX cable, with deeper insertion (shallower shoulders). Use the Furutech FT-2PS-F (note the F) connector if you can find them. Otherwise the normal FT-2PS(R) can be filed down to fit properly.

@zerodeefex presumably they're designed to hold specific object types but me and the dealer spent a good 15m trying to figure out what and failed. So, thing holders.

Awesome idea! Which one do you have? Do you think a Gungnir Multibit would be warm enough? Not sure how much heat Yggdrasil A2 puts out.

@westermac one from strlingengine.co.uk on the expensive side, but they're made precisely enough to run on body heat; 15c temp difference is enough. I have a cheap one but it couldn't quite run all the time.
