For whiskey.... Maybe macallan or glenfarclas or balvenie double barrel. Gotta stay affordable and mainstream for this analogy.

For me it's Woodinville Whiskey Cask Strength Rye; local production.

Woodinville whiskey is alright, but JP Trodden, also from woodinville, might be my favorite whiskey

I think you guys are all off base. You have to include blends for accessibility - most (regular) folks see single malts as 'connoiseur' stuff they will never buy. So I reckon Johnnie Walker Black is the HD6XX for the Scotch side of the house. I'll leave the bourbons and ryes to others to comment on.

Mmh, Aberlour is like too sweet. I'd say anCnoc. But, hey, these are being put together in a whole different island, so Bushmills it's gonna be.

FWIW my personal staple is Caol Ila. Cask Strength if I can find it.

Caol Ila is a great choice and I might add Ardbeg 10 if you like smoky and Bowmore 15 for slightly less smoke.

I have an even better one but I'm keeping it a secret...
