The Woo WA-33 comes with RCA noise-stoppers and it does lower hiss on sensitive headphones. They can help on big tube amps. SS stuff probably wouldn't have too much of a difference but who knows.
Amazon has a few different options as well as the AQ and Cardas ones. For me personally, I was kinda curious to put some on my Cayin HA-1A mk2 since it is a little noisy but AQ pack of 10 might leave me with quite a few extra lol.
They could possibly make a difference, but not all the time. When making measurements I use 50 ohm terminators and BNC to RCA adapters when the situation calls for it:
@Mystic, see the video linked above. They sure worked in that instance. Whether that's audible or not, who knows. Sure it depends on the type of noise and the environment more than anything.
Kitsune said that $4 price is per cap, so same as AQ. Said they also have some in silver finish, but haven't posted pictures yet. Potential discounts for quantity orders. Potential SBAF group buy? :)
Also seems equipment-dependent, which makes sense. Found this on Take Five Audio re: some of these that actually short the input: https://www.takefiveaudio.com/products/1416-rca-input-shorting-plugs/ ("If the inputs on your particular preamp use relays to short them when not in use these plugs will offer no sonic benefit.")
@atomicbob, do you think there is a meaningful difference in performance between (1) gold-plated copper with no PFTE/Teflon insulation and (2) nickel-plated brass with PFTE/Teflon insulation?
Without testing both on a specific device with known RFI susceptibility, I couldn't predict which would be better for any given circumstance. When testing preamps and amps, I run quick tests with / without external grounding and input terminations to see which combination yields best performance.
