They had a shine to them when I first heard their stuff, but on closer examination I now see the tarnish and dull patina in the details. I still listen to a song or two of theirs, just not as often.
Really? I really like them, then again I have no idea what has been in the top charts for the last 10+ years. Don't think I've ever really heard people talking about them much.
I love the shit out of their songs but hate the production quality on basically every one of them. Also, they need to release the a capella version of Rooting For You that's on YouTube as a single dammit.
You know, I think that's where most of the tarnish lies for me. The production quality and mastering of the tracks could be SO much better. I get Rothman's guitar is meant to be in the background more than forefront, but it seems they bury it so deep it doesn't even add texture to the music.
Ugh, tell me about it. The number of albums I don't listen to nearly as often nowadays solely on account of how they're produced is a mile long. Sucks because I still love the music, just that it's almost unpleasant with "better" gear.
Craig at Upscale uses Hey Now as a reference track when demoing and positioning speakers. Never understood why, there are some glaring flaws in the final mix.
