not just car stereos and bluetooth speakers but they likely want it to sound good out of every one's fkn cellphone speaker too I imagine... I think LGs doing some kind of "boombox" feature on their new phones too
And I've always been aware of the "loudness wars" but it's not nearly as noticeable from my headphones... I guess that's my biggest shock!!
I'd say it's odd that this is more noticeable on speakers than headphones, but I have effectively zero experience with the former anyway. Pick a reason: Things sound better when played louder, consumer gear (e.g. phones, laptops) can barely drive headphones to decent levels.
