Glad I could help! Credit goes to Oratory1990. I think his measurement gear is as good as Jude's and he obviously knows how to use it as that's a big part of his job. It's amazing to get a tailor made EQ. You can even send your cans to him for a personalized EQ. He does this for free you only need to pay shipping. A few redditors have done this already. I'm tempted......
The hd800 responded incredibly well, the hd650 did reasonably well, the Elex however, I think sounds worse using his EQ settings, makes me wonder what happened there
Since I’m using Foobar and not JRMC I dont have a nice built in PEQ, they are only available using vst wrappers which I also didn’t want to do. So I used the convolver plugin for foobar.
Cool. I stopped using Foibar because at some point for some reason it started only playing one song at a time instead of whole albums when sending to my RPi setup. Now I just use the Cast to device option in Windows.
One question I have now though is about the phase of the EQ and maybe @ultrabike will know again, I believe the PEQ generated in REW is minimum phase, is there another program we could use to generate an impulse response with a linear phase EQ?
PEQs are IIR, which are not linear phase. FIRs (convolution) can be linear phase. That said, I would be more concerned about the corrected system response (headphone + EQ), than the response of EQ alone.
Be careful about trying to get perfect response with EQ. Headphones and speakers can be a little position dependent. Over fixing to perfection for one position may have a negative impact if slightly off position.
