Actually, I don't know an easy solve here. I think I need arrays of speakers for each height and phase adjustments for each array to sound natural at different seating positions. Time delays will only optimize for one seating position.
@zerodeefex It's ok if you use an acoustic calibration routine like Audyssey or Dirac. Atmos content isn't highly directional (it's meant to be produced by broad dispersion speakers), so just adjust your distances by ~2ft on the offset side if need be. That distance adjustment should adjust the time delay appropriately.
Thanks. I'm paranoid that I'll pick up the RSLs and this will bite me in the ass. Talked a bit with @Donald North and he recommended some experimentation. Also realized a friend's husband is an eng director at dolby and seems to have been the one who invented a huge chunk of the authoring side of the equation for atmos. I might just ask him, hah.
