Nope, not neutered, everyone in the family (except perhaps me, I'm on the fence) thinks it's cruel. I think it's just as bad that he goes completely ballistic and pines for weeks on end when one of our other dogs gets in heat. The parents are against their mating out of principle, or something like that.

I'm just glad his teeth didn't break my pants. Bled a fair bit, but no signs of infection.

Mine isn't neutered either and i'm not planning on it. It can seriously f**k up their thyroid when they reach about 5 years old. Not to mention a host of other problems. Having control over a intact male is indeed very hard. This lady collected some good info: https://healthyandhappydog.wordpress.com

No don't worry, I appreciate the input! I've shared loads of similar articles with my family and have tried talking them into it loads of times now, but I'm always outvoted. It doesn't help that every other person you meet enables this sorta crud by telling stories of how their pets just weren't the same after getting snipped.

    Sigh.

... I love how I got two fairly different articles in just as many minutes. Reading both!

Here's the bitey little boy, for anyone curious. Just thankful it was the dachshund and not the malinois, or even the pitbull.

Dog bites are among the most dirtiest and highest risk for infection. Make sure you completely wash the wound, down to the base, cleanly with soap and water, at least twice a day, and dress it with an antibiotic ointment until it heals. Any signs of fevers, increasing warmth, pains, or redness around the wound, warrants a visit to your doctor.

Yup, thanks @EraserXIV! I'm keeping close tabs on it just in case. I'd really rather not die by dachshund, thanks very much :P

I would say rabies, but, I suppose it's your dog and you /know/ it's healthy.

Hope you are not too sore.

Thanks! Just some bruising and scabs, nothing to write home about. And yup, just as glad that it wasn't a /stray/ dachshund. That'd have been mortifying XD
