I made a movable mini desk that holds just a keyboard and mouse for my nearfield setup. There is a bigger desk somewhere else that i use for desk duty.
Yeah, I need to find some kind of cart/narrow table that will fit my 27in iMac and headphone gears... I would love to do without the extra midrange-bouncing mirrors on the sides. Where did you buy yours?
This started out as another of my stupid ideas, then I thought, wait... could it be done?
Say goodbye to the solid-surface desk. Have a desk full of holes. More hole than desk. honeycomb style, either drilled or made up of interlaced bars. Metal, wood, or whatever material looks/feels best.
That's an interesting concept. I think the challenge would be removing enough surface area without totally compromising the surface's rigidity/strength and usefulness. Or you could toss rigidity and strength out the window and make tiny hammocks for your computer, mouse and keyboard. Might as well sit in a hammock too.
@Thad E Ginathom I've seen some mesh tables and desks with large slits used in studio environments. But I can only pull up patio furniture and coffee tables and not something like a computer desk by image search.
It's occurred to me to set up in reverse - monitors behind me so I can swivel around and be in an unobstructed listening position. Diffuser on the wall between instead of a nice reflective monitor. Vanatoo Zeroes or somesuch for mediocre desk duty, or just listen the 'wrong way' while working.
@briskly, Thanks: so I can cancel my trip to the patent office, then.
But at lest it did turn out to be a real idea!
edit: Bouncing off the hammock idea. A solid bridge would be needed for the equipment, but how about a strenched-canvas worktop. Should be taught enough for keyboard, etc.
@Thad E Ginathom sure, pretty sure I've seen skeletonized desks before. Best make it from a tube frame.
Personally I like having acres of stuff to put all my shit down on till it fossilizes. When I want to sit back and listen to speakers I pull them to the edge of the desk.
