Like Cook they have no vision. In the initial years after Jobs’ death I expected Apple would coast on his, and that the first test would be how they diverge. They blundered right into a solution in need of a problem with the Apple Watch, their new CEOs baby. For which sales numbers are never mentioned.
They can’t replace Jobs. Anyone that could one day do so is in a garage somewhere creating the next big thing of their own, or is already doing it. Like Musk.
Maybe megalomaniac Jobs hired exactly who he wanted: a stunted mechanic like Cook that would never actually supersede his own accomplishments, thus protecting Jobs' place in BS tech lore. Dude seemed self-obsessed enough that he'd make sure his children were buried with him. Well, not his actual children, because he didn't seem to care about them nearly as much.
