Until I saw other people mentioning products "dropping." I had no idea how Massdrop got its name. But I've only seen it in the past year or two.

Usage is usage. Fair enough, but...

Reminds me of a donkey giving birth! Plomp.

American, right? Has it spread to British English? Not seen in this corner of India yet.

I think it's been used in product development business-speak for quite some time, and has just leaked to popular usage. Similar to PR/news announcements "breaking".

I used to drop LSD. Now I drop my kids at gymnastics practise three times a week. Gymnastics ruins lives.

My friends kid is in gymnastics, and holy shit that little 7 year old bounces and tumbles all over the house, yard, street, and vehicles. I told him when he wins a gold medal in the Olympics, I'll pay him $20,000, you should have seen his eye's light up (calculating all the Pokemon cards he could buy). I already paid him $20 to do 50 one arm pushups, hahahaaaaaa.

@LetMeBeFrank I actually prefer their original Licensed to Ill album the best of all, and the OG mmmmDrop from "the New Style" ;) That album was raw and Rick Rubin's rap/rock was in full swing along with Run DMC's "Raising Hell". Golden age of rap for me

These *Beastie Boys* of which you speak. That would be some kind of young male animal? Hmmm... I wonder if I'm even ready to watch the video!

Dropping, or dropping off, children, friends, etc... that I am familiar with. Acid too. It's the sales usage that's new to me.

@Kunlun's probably right, though. He is about most things. Its... a species thing.

Well, maybe! I used to wonder about "needle drop." "Rip," or even "digitise" was good enough for me.
