A few people for the company I work for decide to have a team for a casual basketball league in a nearby sport complex. Problem is they get there too late to sign up for a league of their skill level. Only one slot open is for the elite league. So for getting into shape and actually work on team chemistry (they've never practiced together) they decide to join so they'll be ready when the next league season starts.
First game they run into a buzzsaw of a team. One guy scored like 50-60 points on 3 point shots alone. It was crazy. I'm only hearing about this second hand because I know the people involved. But I didn't hear the score at first. I just knew they got blown out.
Next game I decide to join the group if only for getting a workout myself. When I get there, one of the guys picked up a box score from the previous game. I saw the score.. 128-52. What in the flying f**k? These are 2 20 minute halves reffed games.
The second game ended in a 84-71 loss. Probably because the second team saw the score from the first game and decided to clown around. But I figured out why they were getting it in the purple starfish in the first game. Dudes were leaking to the other basket with no one from the losing team following and getting free baskets. At least have some guy play center field to at least slow that shit down.
