Thanks for the kind comments. All of the TBVOs I’ve done are linked below. I’m pretty intense about them, both on the recording history and mastering. Up next is probably Madman Across the Water or There’s a Riot Goin’ On. Blue and Electric Warrior are also in the mix for the next few. https://audiophilestyle.com/ca/the-best-version-of/

He knows there are more factors. He simply keeps it to himself because he knows a well mastered Jazz recording can make your feet tap regardless of your system's budget. His personal headphone for a long time has been (and likely still is) the HD650. That should tell you enough. He loves music more than his gear but that does not stop him from measuring...

funniest thing to me about that forum is that 1 year ago, it was an echo room of ardent (and I'd admit well informed) fierce empiricists. And thanks to reddit and head-fi, it's now chock fulla idiots and a handful of 6moons hacks. it went from being "if you want one side of the coin..." to meaningless garbage dumpster fire threads a million miles long.

It’s been a victim of its own success. When you tell people that $100 can buy you the greatest DAC or amp ever made, you attract a lot of noobs who don’t know the party line and end up asking “stupid” questions that inflame the veteran Amirites.

DT880 FTW. Less effed in the treble than the T1 Gen 2, and I think newer ones all come stock with felt inserts that balance the sound out a lot more? Mine did, it seems, and it was manufactured in 2010 (according to a Beyer rep when I provided my unit's serial no.)

For a variety of reasons, including sound and OCD tendencies, I’m digital only. I can’t imagine worrying that my “identical” copy of an album sounds worse than someone else’s. That said, I really appreciate the tactile nature of vinyl and admire vinyl-heads. But, boy, DACs seem simple relative compared to turntables.

Sorry, but antidepressant usually don cause tinnitus. This is a rare side effect. They could worse the symptoms if the person ALREADY has the tinnitus... Other medication , very common are the cause for tinnitus. (Antibiotics, blood pressure drugs, etc) I do work with psychopharmacology since 1995 and have seen 4 or 5 cases of tinnitus caused by drugs, most of them caused by 2. Generation of anti psychotic

I didn’t say everyone on antidepressants gets tinnitus. I said people w/tinnitus should check their meds. Even single digit incidence is a lot of people in raw #s, given how many Americans take antidepressants. It definitely was the cause of my tinnitus, and the audiologist I just saw (who specializes in tinnitus) says she sees people all the time who don’t realize their tinnitus is caused by their antidepressant.
