@yotacowboy No spend, gift from a friend; given my finances I'd be loathe to drop money into IEMs when I'm not a huge fan in general, haha. They're gonna take a while to arrive though so I felt like doing some research. Also, just want to form a baseline.
Re: baseline I genuinely think my ears are weird, at least when it comes to IEM perception. @purr1n posted something interesting about how our brains adapt based on pinnae interaction with sounds in environment thereby making it so there are IEMs that are more natural to some than others. I haven't played with enough of them to figure mine out, but I seem less lower-treble sensitive with IEMs than headphones???
These were also my first IEM’s that cost more than 15 bucks. Oddly enough I have had to use them recently on my subway commute because my Noble X right channel has gone wonky and it’s getting too hot for PM3. One thing I can say is they have held up well over the years considering how thin and fragile they feel. They don’t have bass, I mostly use them on the subway for podcasts.
I use them with Shure Olives for more comfort. I am hoping to replace the Noble X before too long because these aren’t a great solution for music listening if you want any low freqs. The other freqs are inoffensive with decent detail IMO.
If you're more lower-treble sensitive with headphones than IEMs, maybe your concha bowls are more efficient than 'average' - see blue curve here: https://bit.ly/2VBTUqn
@DigMe sounds like a decent portable pair then, haha. Well it'll be maybe a week before they get here, so there's that time before I drop more needless impressions :P
@Biodegraded I'll be honest, I've been suspecting the same for a while now, but short of proper testing I'd rather not risk coming off as uppity and just call myself treble-insensitive, haha
