I'm not even sure why they decided to keep the name. Only thing they have in common is the stock star-felt damping. Sonically these remind me most of HE500. Definitely a great value prospect at $299. Too bad the headband sucks and doesn't swivel AT ALL.

How recently have your had an HE-560 on hand? Even after some modding, I don't love it and was eyeballing the HE5SE. If they sound like the HE500, then they could be great at the Adorama price.

@fraggler I have a very early 560 w/ the SMC connectors (which evidently sounds different from the later ones) and the HE500 on hand too. I can compare the three and report back. Which 560 do you have?

I suspect the 5SE might actually be discontinued given the $299 deals + the fact you can't find them on the HFM website anymore. Not sure why, these are definitely better than Sundara across the board for less.

that's probably why they discontinued them. can't put new products to shame with decade old resurrected headphones.

I'm very interested as well. The shootout with the 500 and 560 would be very helpful.
