That is actually a good idea. I was getting distracted by other watches that are cool because they are similar to more expensive watches, but then I would just think how I don't have the real thing. The g shock is a g shock, not trying to be something it's not. Plus so shiny and gold...
Find a better watch for everything with similar functions without breaking the bank, nearly impossible. Besides, you can show this off and wear it like a beater. Maybe an Omega X33? Nope, you are young and need your financial reserves.
Seiko has some pretty good looking stuff in their Presage lines reminiscent of the Grand Seikos, if you want something that isn't 'buy a new car' expensive.
Edit: or their Recraft series, which may be closer to the style of watches you're looking at.
I had a recraft, they are too big for what they are and my wrist size. I mean, I am considering the 49mm g shock, but that is supposed to be big. I was also considering the gold lorier falcon, but I think I might go with the g shock
Make a big "lottery win" wishlist, rank everything according to how bad you want it. Then wait a while and buy whatever's at the top. Or just hold on to your money for a while...
