@Kunlun I've been for it for ages but parents were firmly against the last few years. Hoping this might change mind.
@Thad E Ginathom crap, still sucks (or rather, still bites) that that'd happened. Good call on the needlework, loads of horror stories about cat claws I've heard.
Worse than an angry cat is a cat that you are holding that thinks it is falling: claws go into emergency grip mode.
Cat's skin is tough, so they think ours is too. The result can hurt!
People think they can safely play with big cats. Scaled up, what my cats do to me in affection would have killed me many times over if they were lions or tigers.
Cat that thinks it's falling... yup, my thighs are dotted with loads of scratched because my cat likes climbing onto my lap without warning. Sigh.
Didn't know about cat skin! Learned something, thanks! That'd certainly explain lots. I just looked it up and while cat skin is thinner, it hangs more loosely on muscle and is more flexible so injuries are less felt, ergo they're not as easily bothered.
I used to rescue one cat from a huge intruder tom with murder on its mind. I used a large broom. Intruder cat would just take to attacking the broom instead!
