    ES9016S in the AVB ones but the chip doesn’t matter. The MOTU implementation is excellent. The midrange is soft and it has depth. Who knows with this bus powered usb prosumer stuff though.

    There is no expandability so this is strictly for audiophiles, podcasters, and the 4 for bedroom guitarists (two mics on amp, a di on the line in) It’s obviously made to smash up the low end market from Focusrite and Steinberg with better quality, made in the USA stuff. Anyone recording anyone but themselves in a project studio would do better to get one of the AVB interfaces with ADAT, 8 pres, or 16 channels of i/o.

    FYI, good friend has the M2, sold his Marantz Dac-1 and Steinberg UR22 mkii. Former for listening, later for recording a few things. I have not heard it yet.
