    I have done plasma donation off/on for the last 3 years. In my area if you're consistent (2hrs/wk) you can pull in about $3500 a year tax free. That bought me most of my gear.

    Radiolab had an excellent podcast about the USA and how we sell so much of our blood to other countries.

    I have donated to the Red Cross maybe 2 dozen times myself, whole blood and about a pint each time. My hope is that it goes towards a good cause and not for just profit but I have no idea after I donate.
