Safe from tornadoes in Nashville. Crazy night of sirens. Much destruction though with an E3 though downtown.

Yeah, we're good. Tornado missed us by about a mile. Couple of our friends lost their homes but made it through with no injuries. Still no power at our place, but we're staying with friends. Thanks for checking!

It was a lot closer to Skyline's area of town. So many power outages in that area. Traffic is also terrible - road closures, traffic lights out, etc. We were lucky to be out of harm's way.

Power finally came back on around 2 this morning. We were at our friends and woke up to voicemails from the alarm company saying our alarm went off and the cops had been at our house, etc. Whoops!

Our heat isn't working for some reason, but all is good otherwise.

Would like to emphasise that a big Clever dripper is likely the way to go. You dump in the water (no need for kettle, fancy dripping methods or timing) and forget about it until you remember to plop it on your beaker. It’s cheap, it’s safe (doesn’t overflow over a stove), it’s no more hassle than using a tea bag.

It kind of hits all the notes but the pacing is so frantic that I couldn't take in any more visual information after the first hour or so. Really bad movie (production quality wise) IMO but arguably not the worst one among 1-9.

When your shepherding a franchise that people have spent billions on, and supported for decades, could you at least write all 3 movies before you start filming? You know, so the story makes any sense?

That sucks. Somehow I had turned on my “use cellular data” for backups in photos, and then went on a trip. 2 days later, after taking dozens of photos, I blew through my data for the month (like 10 days in) and my provider cut me off! Had to buy a bunch of data add-ons to last the rest of the month.

But where real dynamic range comes from is deep blacks which only OLED and plasma can do. Film projectors have not the best blacks, and neither do the typical modern theater digital projectors. Some of the newest laser ones do ok though.

One last comment, home projectors can do a lot better with blacks, cause they can use lcos tech to get there and dynamic irises. But they still don’t get very bright as compared to a high end hdr lcd or even an OLED. This where all the tonemapping comes in to get the mastered dynamic range down to what the display can support

"Subjective impressions are great, really. Without them, what's the point..." This only means I try not to listen to the gear rather listen to the music.

An audio enthusiast with a recording degree. I became an audiophile in college in studying recording to become a mastering engineer. Although I was an intern for Glenn Meadows and also was acquaintances with Ray Kennedy, the stars never quite aligned for me. However I never left pursuing high-end audio.

I grew up in a radio station as my dad was in radio. My first job was a board op at the talk station where I had to use analog reel to reels, carts, cassettes, and DAT's.

And yes, I like to tinker with gear. I am an audiophile on a budget. Working IT Instructional Designer only gets you so much income with two kids around. Have you seen how much day care costs these days? Anyways, there are I guess some gains to some gear that can be tweaked to improve the performance. This is no different than car types changing differentials or beefing up the suspension or engine. Some of us can't afford a BMW, but rather have to take a Civic and beef it up with aftermarket parts.

Tinkering also helps with repairing gear. I have restored some KEF C75 speakers, an Elac Miracord 50H. I have also fixed, soldered, suped up, many other things from crossovers, to cap replacement, to op-amp replacement, etc. I most recently fixed and rebuilt a non-working Dynalo. I took electronics and studio maintenance in college, but I am still learning.

I have also built: guitar tube amps, guitars, and drums. I love DIY.
