Sorry you had a bad experience with them. I like mine. I would return them if you can and maybe try another pair? Mine never sounded like the way you describe.
Oh interesting. Maybe this is a bad pair? Returning them not worth the time, but can I mail them to you and you compare to see if it's a bad pair? I don't need 'em back, in fact I literally pulled them out of the trash can just now in case you'll be willing to check them out.
I don't think its a bad pair. RX1 doesn't have anything substantial below 150hz. Lack of any sort of bass might make it sound horrible to some. The dude who sold me my first pair hated them
Before you trash them or mail them, I would try burning them in. They are definitely mid-centric but the bass improved with time. I haven’t listened to them in a while, I will check them out tonight and report back.
@Gaspasser Rage Against the Machine for a few hours didn't improve things, but I'll give 'em longer and see what happens. My vibe on these has moved from disgust to morbid curiosity at this point. :)
@philipmorgan I have had 3 pairs in the past (>3yrs). They are all broken now . I listened to just about everything on them but mostly at low volumes. Lack of bass make them shouty at moderate to high volumes. I liked them for their relatively good midrange and smooth treble (Relative to similarly priced IEMs which have garbage bass, dipped mids and mandatory 10khz treble spike. No bass > Bad bass)
Pairing bass light iems/buds is tricky as well. You shduldn't be using something like ESS or similar sounding sources with such phones. In absense of bass they would make midrange and above sound thin and tiny. I had a HTC M7 that did just that , while a Samsung S4 made them sound lot better
I dunno, I’m listening to them now Qobuz app/iPhone 7 via lightning dongle and my original opinion remains. Very clear, definitely mid-centric with enough lower midbass to make for a good listen. They definitely sound better than my AirPods #shrug
