OK guys not a single suggestion?! We're going to need more help then this. I'd like to put together a couple of candidates and then maybe do a quick shootout.

I'm so pleased with the Solaris' performance out of my phone that I dont think its worth investing in an expensive source given background noise. Pairing is more important than the nuances I'll be able to extract with a better source.

Fiio X5iii. The AKM implementation plays nice. Haven't used it with IEMs. Someone here is selling one for 150.

for portable my Solaris like the iFi xDSD. lossless when USB connected, when xDSD bluetooth paired with iPhone it's lossy but then THROUGH the DAC for decent quality. add IEMatch for no hiss.

I'm not sure if you've tried the EarStudio BT thing, but there is a new device called the Qudelix 5k that might be worth checking out in a month. Lots of nice features and should be fairly priced.

Fiio X5 3rd Gen but only if you root it and get that custom kernel from HF. Still doesn't fix the Second MicroSD card slot issue.

I'm not looking for features, just the best SQ/dollar with the Solaris in a compact reliable package.
