    I read somewhere the dyes effect the integrity of the vinyl and can possibly make it less durable. So black vinyl maintains better sound quality.

    Guess I won't complain when I order an LP that could be colored vinyl only to end up with good ol' black vinyl.

    I've had a few decent color pressings but that seems to be the exception not the norm. Having said that, I generally get colored ones if I can unless I know it's exceptionally well recorded.

    The hardness can vary on the dye. Same is said for lacquer dyes as well on wood. Not a huge deal unless you plan on playing 1000+ times.

    Picture discs are bad. Stay away unless you are hanging it on a wall.
