Episode 7 and taking a breather, my ageing butt makes it harder to stay up late at night, haha. So far the show's mood is weirdly lighthearted; I agree that a bit more darkness would suit the overall story more, but also understand that the comedic elements help it appeal to a wider fanbase... somehow?
@Lyander I won’t say much other than there will be a tonal shift at some point. Just keep watching. Manga’s about to end as well so you started at the right time haha enjoy my dude!!
@Lyander i think bleach turned to trash when they decided to milk the series for profit. They should have ended it with defeating Aizen. Idk wtf the rest of the story was, such a tragedy bc it had a lot of potential
Iirc the authors of manga in those ultra big shounen jump sized publications are often bound by contract to keep producing. The weekly deadlines, huge pressure, and often years long commitment cause huge creative burnouts.
Agreed, they should have ended things after the Aizen arc. Hell, the parting scene between Ichigo and Rukia was beautiful, everything from then on was blergh.
@FallingObjects hell yeah. It's sad what happens when comics are commercialised. The new Samurai series from Kishimoto is pretty... eh.
Give me a 2 episode long fight scene between full power Aizen and last boss SPOILER CHARACTER, that's all I need and want to see out of the remake/relaunch of the anime.
I'm actually glad I let this one pass me by haha, I get to watch it all at my leisure! Yep, keeping on for now, will probably just binge until finale to keep from inadvertent spoilers.
@Lyander feel free to share your thoughts here as you progress through the series. I'm glad to have found another person to talk about this with. It's not the most complex story, but basically it's shonen-series done right. I really love how every demon has a backstory and you end up sympathizing with them like Tanjiro.
Haha, will do if I take breaks between epsiodes. I agree it's actually less nuanced plot-wise than most trashy isekai (shush I need junk food lol), but that like in music and other things it's the execution that matters. Same with audio gear, it's the last few bits of a percent that we're all chasing despite having different preferences for voicing etc XD
@Walderstorn Same as in the profile post, Kimetsu no Yaiba/Demon Slayer. Just haven't had time to watch again until now, lol.
Unless you mean the trashy isekai in which case I'm also catching up on Knight's & Magic (the apostrophe really is in the title, sigh) and, uh, Net-juu no Susume. In my defence the latter series is cute!
Episode 14. Lots of ups and downs and feeling sorry for baddies, but I'm just giving myself a stitch in the side from laughing way too loudly and choking on tea. Non-spoiler: headbutts and massive foreheads. I found that scene way too good.
Currently on 18. If you were referring to ep 16 then that kinda touched on sensitive shit and that particular fight was pretty cleanly executed (pun or no pun). God damn ninjas.
And of course the entire episode 17 had me bawling. Undertale-tier determination in this shit.
Demon Slayer is one of those rare series that ramps up and ends stronger than how it started, and I'm looking forwards to watching its continuation immensely. Enjoy the ride!
Semi related to the earlier discussion, but if anybody is wanting to watch some cheap trash, can confirm that Interspecies Reviewers lives up to the controversy. 100% guaranteed borderline hentai trash! Enjoyed it for what it was though, lol.
@Lyander so many anime adaptations butcher the essence of the manga, but this is one of the few cases where it actually brings it more to life. Ep.19 is probably one of the benchmarks of top anime scenes
