Additional info: She will use with spotify on an android phone. Will be used while walking/working out. Occasionally used for conference calls, often enough to make quality call quality a priority. While she is not an audiophile, I make sure she never listens to absolute garbage gear other than car stereo.
I actually like the Ausounds TruFlex for a fairly all-purpose, bass and upper-mid forward presentation. They gave me a free pair at RMAF. Good battery life. Sounds good with LDAC. Bout $200?
I can't speak much on the call quality aspect, but I surprisingly really like the Bose Soundsport Free. I don't get along well with actual in-ear stuff, so the way these softly hook into your ear and float is a godsend for me. And while they use whatever the fairly basic BT protocol is, I genuinely think they're one of the best IEMs, wireless or otherwise, I've heard in terms of tone.
To add, my wife does use these fairly regularly for casual calls with friends and family. She reports no issues, but all that really means is I can say they technically work in this regard. Can't comment on quality.
I have Jaybird Vista true wireless and I think they're practical for what they are. They fit my ears perfectly and have decent battery time. Sound quality is decent, but I think there's too much bass. I've used the Android app from Jaybird to lower the bass to a more tolerable level. Another popular true wireless set is Jabra Elite 75t, but I haven't heard those.
I really enjoy the Sony WF-1000XM3. I haven't had anyone complain when I have used them for calls. Because they are noise cancelling, they are definitely bigger than other wireles IEMs, but they hit a very nice sweet spot of sound and functionality for used prices. I got a great deal from a Friend here, but have seen them refurbished for as low as $150 and routinely under $200.
Thanks for all the recommendations! Had been considering the Sony and new Sennheiser Momentum 2 just based on brand and have generally good reviews. Glad to hear the Sony's are solid, was concerned about comfort.
Second with @fraggler on the WF-1000XM3. I actually use the Marshmallow tips that came with Campfire Audio stuff. It feels really good and great for long conference calls.
